Well a month in and feeling so much better about my future DF life. It finally seems achievable.
Had a call, from L1nk financial today, who took over my MBN^ debt, despite my telling them all correspondence to be conducted in writing.
Anyway after speaking to the stupid fool who said "Look, if you pay us £3,000 we'll go away". (As I only owe £3,400, does he really think that was such a good offer). Anyway, I don't have £300 to pay him let alone £3,000, which I explained very clearly in my last phone call with them and my letter sent the same day.
Eventually he accepted what I said and put me onto his colleague who was going to discuss my budget with me. I explained to her that I'd submitted a SOA to them and was waiting for a reply. She confirmed she'd had it but could not access it as her computer was playing up. So I read the figures out to her over the phone. At which point she told me I had a surplus of £450 per month. Ha, I wish, in my dreams.
What she actually meant was my OH has a surplus of £450 pm, as we weren't discussing his debts. If you remember they told me last time they weren't interested in his situation, only mine.
Anyway, I explained that I've split all our HH expenses in half and I pay half, which leaves me with X surplus to offer to MY PREDATORS. I have offered them all a fair and equal percentage of this surplus, equal to their percentage of my overall debt and no-one is getting more than anyone else.
She initially asked me if I could increase my offer, wherein I asked her where she expected me to get it from as I haven't even left myself with an emergency fund. Eventually she agreed to my offer and gave me their SO details over the phone, so now set up for 1st July. Wanted a payment today but I said no. (I could have paid it but was being stubborn as they took over a month to reply and then failed to do it the way I requested, so they can blooming wait). The money will go to one of my predators still charging interest instead.
Not sure how long this agreement is for, as she didn't say. Suppose I may get a letter from them in the near/distant future but they have at least accepted my offer and budget for now. That means everyone is now on board, with only Halif^x still charging interest of 0.5% until it goes to litigation, whereby it will default and stop interest.
Other than that I've still got my catalogue and Arg0s cards, which as I said before I use for emergencies, so are still charging proper interest and not defaulted. I'll keep up with their payments for as long as I can, just to keep the accounts, but only ever use them when I can get special offers/have no other option.
NSD again today, so signature update to follow.
Watching tv tonight in complete peace as OH is working O/T.
BFN, hope you have all had a good day.

Oh silly computer deleted my message as I was about to press send.
Anyway, Hello, :hello: Bast so nice of you to join me. I love visitors, just hope you don't get my dreaded lurgy though.
My DGDs are gorgeous, they are so kind to their Granny, they even share their bugs.
I know that feeling well. I got offered VES last year, well and again this year and the payout was good. I couldn't take it because I'd been stupid in the past and run up a load of debt and taken out a secured loan.:eek::o
I so wish now I'd gone for an IVA 5 years ago instead as then I could have taken the offer and found a part-time job so I could spend more time with them whilst they are young.
Still can't undo what's done and can't go down the formal insolvency route now due to job. I'm in a well paid job but most of my money goes on secured loan and predators.Still at least things are on the up and most of the time I enjoy my job.
Hope you get back to work soon and that whatever is keeping you away isn't too bad.

We are both really determined this time... husband is better at me and deals with the finances... What we have done is put some money in savings and have two interest free credit cards which we are massively overpaying.. The theory is we shall then have paid quite a bit off when the interest free period is over and either get another interest free card, or pay off the amount we owe..
I have so many "if only I had`nt" moment but I think while it`s done nothing you can do and I really have learnt.. I now go food shopping practically every day which satiates my need to shopI have to food shop nearly every day coz we live on a boat and do not have a freezer.. I think you are doing brilliantly . I know how hard it is for us shopaholics..:)

dearest Granny I love to hear about your darling gd's. My only regret in life is that niht me or oh have any children. I feel we are missing out on a vital part of what a real family is like, and as we are both now too old, we will have to be happy as we are.
How is the headache? I have been suffering since this morning. I wish the menopause would get over with, it seems to be talking ages.
In anycase, I am hair free (ok not really but have made a stab at it)
My granny who died in 2005 was the real love in my life and I suspect your wee one feels the same way about you.

We've all had so many what if? moments and all of us regret our debts. There's no use grieving over it, what's spent is spent. Most days I value the simple things in life now. I enjoy making meals from economical ingredients, I actually eat better than ever. I've found I don't need so many items of clothing etc. All valuable lessons learned.
I'm so glad you've joined us granny!

a real family is what you make of it my lovely friend and you could always try to adopt a grandchild in your area, I'm sure there are children around without any GP in their lives - my 2 DC had to cope without their GPs in their area so one of my dear close friends acted as a surrogate to them. She was absolutely fantastic with them and we were all very sad when she passed away a few years ago. They even called her Nana V because she was so special. How is the headache? pretty awful I have to say. You poor thing, that is the worst. I went through it at the ripe old age of 32 after having cervical cancer, so its behind me now, but I suffered plenty, so well know what it was like.In anycase, I am hair free (ok not really but have made a stab at it)
As I said on your diary, it does get easier each time you use it and will save a fortune in the end. My legs used to itch like mad after shaving but not any more, as long as you moisturise and dry brush well. I use a ex-foliating glove over my legs rather than dry brush though. My granny who died in 2005 was the real love in my life and I suspect your wee one feels the same way about you.
xx
What a lovely thing to say, I hope so. I never had a Granny really as my mum's mum passed away when she was 17, long before I was born and my dad's mum wasn't really interested in being a Granny. I have learnt from my friend mentioned above really and love spending time with them both and plan to cherish the time we have together as before you know it they are all grown up and have less time on their hands to spend with you. I hope they will always realise they can rely on me to support them in whatever they do though.

Granny, I think you are fab and I would love you to have been my Granny thats for sure.
I wrote you a really huge long mammoth Pinot style post the other night after we were talking about parents and childrens books and I somehow managed to delete the post. Sorry about that. I cant remember what I wrote, but no doubt it was all to do with the books you are reading the Grandchildren. Anyhow I think you sound a really lovely Granny !
I cant believe we have only known you for a month and we now have another lovely friend Bast to add to merry band ! What fun we will have ! I also have discovered how NL knew about Bast living on a boat when I didnt ,which I had a little sulk over earlier ! :rotfl:
Well done for standing your ground with the Predators. Most of mine havent specified how long they will agree to the payment offers for, but their letters generally state this is not a long term agreement. I am anticipating them wanting to do a review after 6 months, in which case my time is nearly up, so I will sit tight and see. The only people who have called for a review earlier have been M&S which was after three months.
I agree with Piq, I have had fun making weird things out of not much food and arent that bothered with new clothes . I ahve a blip every now and then. Although I have never loved wandering around the shops, I love to trawl the internet for bits and pieces, particularly bits for the house, cushions, picture frames etc. Now though as I pay for pretty much everything in cash its an impossibility for me to be tempted ! I have realised I dont need loads of clothes but I do have trouble where the girls are concerned as I would love to be able to buy them everything I see. I know it would do them no good what so ever though , and in fairness they dont ask for anything....but thats what being a mum or a granny is about isnt it ?? Spoiling the kids ?!!
Ok I'm going now , as I could talk forever about NLs thoughts on being childless and surrogate grannies etc I will save that for another day though !LBM July 2011 - Finally took control Nov 2011 DFD Sometime in the distant future !
