Hello my dear diary and friends :hello:
I'm back from my break, feeling shattered but refreshed.
Loads of walking but also loads of Guinness, so probably time to settle down to my fat busting as well as my debt busting.
The holiday was great and I was pretty well behaved financially. I even turned down the offer of a gift in the museum gift shop, saying I'd rather have the money for something I really wanted. :A
I had 1 NSD, where the trip was booked and OH bought drinks and ice-creams, which weren't very expensive.
I paid for food 1 night and drinks on 2 days, so spent a total of £40. I then spent £40 of the £50 OH gave to me on t-shirts/gifts for DGDs.
I've done a signature update, with most of the numbers being about a payment behind, so not quite accurate, but rather than confuse things I'll leave it as my noddle account says today. Doesn't look like much but I've had DD special birthday and DGD2 1st birthday to finance this month.
I've also paid off my OD this month and am hoping not to go into it by the end of the month. I have £150 saved for DS wedding and £100 in my emergency funds savings, which if it doesn't get used can also be added to his wedding fund. This is the first time in years that I haven't been o/d and have had savings - Go Granny Go :j:T:j
Anyway, I'm planning on having a quiet day today, doing the washing/ironing and catching up on emails/surveys/diaries.
Hope all is well in your worlds

Thanks all. It was good to spend some quality time with OH, away from the tv and sport. We bickered a little but no major rows, which was good.
Was pretty pleased with myself about the spending because previously I just wouldn't have been able to resist, which is kinda why I'm in this situation.
I even took a postcard with me that gave me a free top quality body cream/wash worth £4.50 as there was a store in the city we went too. I found the shop, got my free wash, bagged a couple of extra samples, sprayed some perfume, used some hand lotion and left. I have to say I was really proud of me. Although we were limited on how much we could carry on the plane, that wasn't the major decision maker for me.
Had a NSD yesterday and could have one today but I'm trying to decide whether to go and have my hair done as its on a special offer for highlights and cut n blow dry etc for £25 but not sure if I really want to. Can't get it for this price after today, so in a dilemma now.
Maybe I'll have some tea and think about it.
Things pretty quiet other than that. Think I'll have to write to MBN^ DC soon as they haven't replied to my letter, despite my asking them to acknowledge receipt. Others going ok at the mo, fingers crossed. Only 2 are charging interest, catalogue and Arg0s that I use for emergencies/present buying and I'm trying to snowball those so they are gone before I pay too much interest. They're both on the same APR but some items are on interest free at the mo.
Oh well, off for that tea, chat later

Well no NSD here for me but am I pleased I went to have my hair done because it is stunning. :j
I've now got shoulder length blonde and caramel hair with a really modern choppy fringe and all at a snip, (sorry, couldn't resist :rotfl:) cost of £25. The lady next to me had 2 colour, tint and foils, plus cut and dry, so pretty much the same as me and paid £75, plus she hated the colour, saying it was disgusting, Oh dear, I thought it looked nice but laughed out loud at her face.
I spent no money apart from this and since I've come home have bagged myself some freebie cosmetics, L'Oreal Revitalist BB cream and 2 free Aloe Vera gels, one with tea tree oil and one without. :T

I am so happy you are back Granny and that you had some well deservered time away.
And good for you for not being dragged into family drama. I almost felt a little less bad about my own family knowing you are out there dealing with the BS too.
So now that it is June and you are back are you going to start counting NSD?
I'd love a glass of wine but alas need to cut calories so a valium it is to drown out the football being watched in the other room.

Hello Granny,
how are you today ? Sorry I have been AWOL. Sounds like your break away was lovely and very well deserved after reading through your previous posts.
As far as odd families go,I think many of us suffer from weird family syndrome !! I am always being told by my mum that she wishes I was a boy and also being compared to my sister who apparently is the beautifully stunning one, whilst I , on the other hand am relatively attractive in her eyes but no where near as stunning as my sister. It doesnt bother me, it just made me more determined never to behave like that with my girls or favour one over the other ! There been many a time where she raves over how lovely my sister looks and then turns and asks me why I am wearing a particular outfit as I would look far nicer in something else, and why on earth did I choose it ? The funny thing is I am the one who makes the daily calls, constant visits etc etc, hospital and doctors trips and in the past filled their cupboards with food whent hey were struggling and goes and buys all of her Christmas presents for her so that she doesnt have to make the trip to the shops, whereas my sister doesnt work, her children are all grown up and left home and has all the time in the world. She unfortunately though is the apple of her eye and can do no wrong. Oh dear, I could burble on forever with this topic !! But I wont !!!
