Theres a while lotta luuurve flying around this thread today isnt there !!! :D

Granny, earlier on in my diary, I had a big flip out panic style attack whilst standing in the middle of Ne*t. One part of me was telling me to buy the new tea, coffee and sugar pots as I bought mine when I was pregnant with DD2, another part was telling me that I really shouldnt as the ones I still have are fine, and the deepest darkest part which only occasionally pops up decided to make me feel sorry for myself and gett upset. All over a coffee pot for goodness sake !! Its funny now when I think back !

Oh and Granny, although my daughter is only 14, I have had nights where I have woken in a panic worrying about paying for a car for her at 17 or paying for her wedding. I would love her to get married in a bit tent in a field with jam jars hanging in the tress, the guests sleepignin tents and her wearing a pair ofHunters under her Wedding Dress !! The field will cost me £2500 at todays prices !!! The poor child she may never want to get married and you can bet your bottom dollar she wont wan her wedding in a random field that her mum picked for her when she was about 6 years old !! Thankfully she humours me !! :rotfl:When is your DS wedding planned for ?

I am very envious of you Bast. I love the water and in my ideal life woudl live like you on a canal boat or a lovely cottage by the sea. Infact Mrs New Leaf, Im not sure if you have found her yet has similar plans when her DFD finally arrives. I did laugh at your cats falling in though !

Ok going now, MUST work xx

I really loved your stories.. memories are wonderful and free. We live on the leeds liverpool canal.. really pretty .. I have a thing for water, my ambition would be to own a sail boat, but am to terrified to get one in case we sink, its a lot more safer on a canal, even when you fall in :)
My cats have fallen in and were not to happy, I was caught between being terrified for them and laughing because a wet British short hair is an amusing sight..
I long to have grandchildren, I too will spoil them rotten and hug them to death I love children, you are a very lucky lady :):) As they are to have you..

Oh I love that stretch of water. I really am envious. My mum and I often consider going on the canals on our yearly week away but I worry that it'll be too much for us. Sadly I can't suggest to OH that the 3 of us go as they really don't get on.

Once we took 5 adult cats and 15 kittens with us. How we sneaked them all aboard I'll never know. I think we were only meant to take 1, or pay for some of the others at least. They certainly wouldn't have agreed to our taking 20 anyway.

One of the mummy cats was really good and spent all her time running around after the lot. The other mum was so laid back she was horizontal and would have left them to their own devices if it wasn't for the other.

We spent the entire week, hunting for kittens and got some strange looks when taking the adult ones for walks on leads on the canal bank.

Oh such joyful memories - thanks Bast I needed that today as feeling pretty rough and tucked up in bed with a lems1p, instead of being out with my workmates.

Sounds like you are a terrific mum so I'm pretty sure you'll make a terrific Granny when your time comes. I feel very blessed to have such DC as we had a tough life but we got through the bad times by supporting each other. I can't rate being a Granny high enough, its A1.

Mad isn't it. I've got a real aversion to stuff now and don't tolerate unnecessary gifts of stuffy type stuff but cannot resist clothes/make-up sometimes. I'm really not that bad any more but as you said sometimes that demon pops up.

My worst memory was buying a £400 dolls house on a credit card because I wanted one. :o That was in 2007 and it is still in bits around the house. OH has agreed to help me get it put together properly for DGD1 for Christmas as I know she'd love it and it'll mean her Christmas is sorted. I have lights, wall paper, carpets and furniture for it, so it really doesn't need anything major and at 6 she'll be the right age to cherish it. :D

Ha ha, you never know, she may just surprise you. You'll be in a much better position debt wise by then I'm sure x ;)

His wedding is on Halloween and they are funding it all themselves as her DP think its a waste of money. Its so sad as she is their only child so you think they'd want to help give her the best day ever but they are being pretty mean. They are not short of a bob or two either. :(

Me too, oh the joys of a down-sized life. When my mum and I go away we usually stay in simple little cottages, with no mod cons, not even mobile signals usually. We potter around all week, eating pretty frugally and enjoying afternoons just sitting and talking. Last year we stayed in a converted pig sty, which was done out lovely I hasten to add and had a lovely week. Just goes to show you don't need to spend a fortune to be happy.

I loved the cat story too x

Thanks NL, I could ramble on about them for ever - I am so incredibly proud of my 2 DC and so in awe of the fabulous dad my DS has shown himself to be, especially when I consider the male role models he had in his life

I love the water and could stand looking at it forever. I get quite mesmerised by it x

I don't know why, but I suspect you're hardly old enough to be a granny. Your posts come across as a young woman writing.

Shame you're tucked up with a lemsip, hope you feel better soon.
