To buy a City Rover, or not???
We have saved up £1200 and are looking for a second hand car. Mrs B has been shopping today and has found a City Rover, 51,000 miles, 04 plate, 12 months MOT, 5 doors. The man'll give 3 months warranty too, and wants 1100 quid for it. However, we've heard that they have problems with getting parts, and also with the master cylinder. Has anyone got any advice please? We're supposed to be picking it up on Tuesday!!

no no and thrice no.
I used to deliver these Tata's by transporter when new, literally they were falling apart on the truck.
Absolute rubbish.
Whoever was responsible for sticking the Union flag on the back of the junk should have been flogged.0 -

I would say, no. Bad idea.
Parts are hard to get, scrapyards dont have them to get spares off...
No redeeming qualities, and the one you're describing isnt even cheap.
Buy a clio, corsa, or fiesta. Even if you end up with a slightly older one.0 -
Get a fiesta, best buy ever for me. Nothing wrong in 2 and a half yearsRebuilding my finances0

Everyone drives them in India so I'm not sure why they're slated over here. No personal experience of one so I can't say!0

This Top Gear review of the City Rover may be of interest (it is humourous but I think a tiny bit of journalism was trying to break out at the same time):

Also have a look at this (including the owner's reviews):

£1100 for an EIGHT year old City Rover??? It aint worth tuppence!"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

How does a Ford KA compare to a City Rover? Being realistic I think that might be more do-able for £1200 than a Fiesta, without it being very old or high mileage.0
