    Morning everyone

Am doing ok with the challenge so far and another NSD for me yesterday.

However, am now stressing myself as DS has invited 2 friends over for a sleepover. Three teenage boys in one room.....oh the joy of lynx!

Apparently, one doesn't like vegetables and the other is a vegetarian (and doesn't like vegetarian 'meat' substitutes). Really wanted another NSD day too!

Going to look at the recipes on first page to look for inspiration.

Hope you all have a good day.

This made me smile, memories of my DS and teenage sleepovers,
His favorite was homemade pizza and plenty of hm chips. Pizza is really adaptable, I used to do ham and pineapple, leave off the ham for veggies. Oh and chocolate icecream, not forgetting to leave out the bread and jam for supper. Dont make the mistake I did first time and tell them to help themselves in the kitchen, came down in morning to find virtually nothing left. Loads of fun to be had though, good luck.

  • Hi everyone

Just been catching up on the thread, JJ's herby bread has become legendary!

Got to tell you about my trip to the Asian/Continental sm, I love that place. I went with my list and did not deviate (a first for me ha). Spent £17.79 which included 4kg onions for 89p, 5kg spuds for £1.59, a leek (to go in my stock) for 18p, a bulb of garlic 11p...I could go on. Then called into l!dl for the stuff I couldn't get in the Asian sm and spent another £10.31.

Will update my sig. That's my first spend of the month as the kids were all away last week but back today, so me & OH ate out of the freezer etc; food consumption back to normal from today!

A rainy day again, fancy doing some baking... Twink's hobnobs and Millie's cookies I think to feed the snack-hungry hoards and they will be nice in the packed lunches next week too (if they last that long). Also fancy a snuggly afternoon with the kids watching a film...bliss.

    Ciao for now

P.s My pea plants have finally got flowers on, hurrah :D

  • Preparing myself to make the hm bread without a breadmachine (thanks suffolk lass and sister cass). Got the semolina to go on top as per your recipe suffolk lass, 375g for 59p from the asian sm. Also thinking about doing those dough balls from the recipes on the 1st page, has anyone tried them? Obviously would have to start them in the mixer, not the breadmachine as it says, so hope they'd still be ok.

Much as I would like to go out and enjoy the sunshine in between the downpours, today (and tomorrow :o) really should be NSD's....;)

They should also be stay-indoors-and-eat-as-much-as-possible-out-of-the-freezer days because my often delayed meat order from D*nald R*ssell is coming on Monday and it MUST squeeze into the freezer somehow!! :rotfl:

Of course because I need the space, there is nothing I fancy eating, although everything in there is stuff I like

So far I have taken out 2 HM blueberry muffins.....must try harder :D

Afternoon! Checking in with another spend today - sadly - but at least it wasn't as huge a bill as I thought it would be. I went to Mr T (while we were in town anyway) and spent £16.00 on top up items for the week. In addition to what was on the list I managed to avoid buying chocolate biscuits and crisps in favour of 1 bar of Value Dark Chocolate and a box of Value Cornflakes - I have in mind to make some chocolate crispie cakes! Failing that, I'll make some chocolate chip cookies and a sponge pudding. Has anyone had any joy in using packet mix custard to make a quick ice cream with?

Today's shop included Mr KB's cereal - branded, but haven't been able to find anything similar in terms of quality or taste so don't mind buying it. We don't have many other luxuries! It also included some extra strong teabags as the last lot I got were weak at best and second-hand looking at their worst! I did resent paying £1.63 for 6 eggs (when I normally buy free-range ones from the market at 12 for the same price!) but on the whole I'm not too unhappy with it. Combining the trip with something else meant I didn't have to make a separate trip and therefore use more fuel.

May have to go shopping for a few bits later in the week but that will be for sandwich stuff. Desperately trying to re-kick my fizzy pop habit again. It isn't really a bad habit but it's costly and I could do a lot better. :)

Going to make a huge chicken and bacon pie for tea tonight and have the rest another day. Meals are scheduled but I'm not really giving a set plan for them this week as things might change suddenly. Still, haven't had this many NSDs for quite a while!

    K xx

Updated with online shopping now have meal plan, all systems go. Forgot toothpaste. Grr.

Did spend on hotdogs and buns today but not including that as I also left an extra fiver as it was the nurserys charity fundraiser, and it was all donations.
