got a fair amount of rice left over ,DD1 says she would like egg fried rice tomorrow so need to find a recipe . ive got a jar of sweet and sour sauce and a pack of prawn crackers in the cupboard somewhere, so could use that too
Nickjw have you tried home bargains they do generic water filters around £2 , they fit my brit@ filter so not sure if they would be any good
Thanks sistercas - unfortunately I don't have a Home Bargains where I live - in fact I had never heard of them until I visited this thread.
A trip to Mr T didn't materialize because the tube I needed to get there was suspended, so I made a quick trip to Mr W - to make the cost reasonable I got the 3 for £10 meat deal - diced turkey (better value than chicken breasts) for the enchiladas tomorrow, plus pork lion steaks and frying beef steak for other meals in the future.
I don't need to upgrade my filter till towards the end of the month so I guess Mr T can wait!Grocery Challenge Jan 24 0/300

Hi all
Went to MrS tonight and spent a bit more than I planned, just over £40, but balanced out with TTD pears, 5 in a bag, reduced from £2.50 to 65 pence so I got 2 bags. I've got some brambles in the freezer, so cue a few hot puds this week - crumble, pie, sauce for ice cream...... Also needed olive oil, shaving gel, nappies, bread flour and yeast, so added more than I was expecting. Now I'm up to about £200 for June, so rather over for this time of the month - must try harder next week!

Just finally caught up with recording what we've spent for March, April, May and our grocery bills are looking shocking. It made for really horrible reading actually. Our whole budget for everything, not just food (clothes, baby stuff, eating out) is just waaay below what we've actually been spending.
Things are going to change as of tonight. So far in June we've spent £127.97. Hubby and I have decided that we're going to spend £40 more this month. I've been to Lidl this morning and got all our fresh fruit and veg for the week till next Friday. We have all our staples, meat and fish for the month. There isn't a reason why we shouldn't meet this target. Scratching my head wondering how we ever blew it so badly in the past, but I guess bored mummy and baby wandering round Sainsbo's makes for an expensive outing every other day!
So, in summary: £127/£170 for June for two adults and one miniature. We can do it.MFW start date:22.6.13 - £138555 9.7.13 - £125937

So far this month we've spent:-
£1 in I*ela*nd, £2.97 in 99p store, £24.09 in Mr A's, £13.41 in HB, and £4.09 in Mr S, which was mostly staff only bargains, that OH got yesterday and today, of 2 packs of edam cheese, (half price at £1.35 each), 2 packs of 5 nectarines (from £2 down to 19p per pack) and 2 packs of grapes (originally 2 packs for £4, down to 19p per pack). The cheese has BB date of August, (think they were reduced because they'd lost the front label), and the fruit has BB of today, but they're in perfect condition (nectarines not yet fully ripe) so will do for snacks at work for at least the next week.Weight loss challenge 2/10lbs

I am sure your flour will be fine I have used it some months out of date. Also if you cant get round to breadmaking you could just freeze the flour.Slimming World at target0 -
Welcome to the thread mrsmagpie and hattifattener
I took my two to Legoland today. I'm really proud of myself. I only spent money on petrol. We didn't fall for the trap of paying for anything in the park. I got the passes for the park from Tesco vouchers."Never ascribe to malice that which is adequately explained by incompetence."Weight loss challenge:j: week 1~ Napoleon Bonaparte

Morning everyone one.
Thought I'd come and update my sig as I'm awake.
Spent a fiver on fruit at the market on Thursday, it's just all so tempting
I went to Mr S on wednesday with my little list. Just got bread, milk and a 20p lettuce., but my mum is staying so said she'd get them so no spending for me. OH found some TTD steak burgers down to £1.20 for two, still seems expensive to me. So mum bought them too and we have them for tea yesterday and to be fair they were yummy
Got some rolls for the burgers too yesterday, wouldn't have bothered but had to wait ages for my prescription and unfortunately the chemist is next to the bakersdidn't get a receipt though but think it was £1 for rolls.....ok I may have bought some doughnuts too as a friday treat I think I saw they were £1.20 for four but I cannot remember now.
So near my target already! Really will just need fresh things like milk, bread (although got flour, yeast etc), eggs, fruit and veg hopefully.
OH is out today and won't be back until very late. Just me and mum for tea. We'll have a using up stuff dinner I think. Salad, cold meats and maybe a jacket pot unless we do freezer roulette.
Will attempt next weeks meal plan over this weekend. The pizza bases sound lovely, will have to jot them down. In fact so many lovely recipes over the last couple of days, they always make my mouth water.
Will update siggy now, hope everyone has a good weekend
