But there isn't actually any communication as such. So what mark will they give? I guess that they don't have to mark all the categories - or maybe they do??
I tend to send an email the same day I dispatch, just cut and paste it, so they know to look out for it. Whether it goes into their spam folder or actually reaches them is another thing!I love this board, have "virtually" met so many lovely people, people I am honoured to count as friends.

I think you have a good point becky. It possibly isn't what we charge that is excessive, it is the perception that postage generally is too high.
I got my stars! 5 out of 5 for description, communication , dispatch and 4.5 stars for P&P. Am not going to stress about postage though as I have yet to see a 5 out of 5 for P&P, and I feel my charges are fair.
At the end of the day when I bid on an item I take into account the price of P&P and factor that into the maximum amount I'm prepared to bid. I presume most other buyers do this.
I think the only way to get round the P&P would be to offer free postage, which would result in higher FV Fees on ebay, so higher starting price on auctions in order to make a profit not a loss (as I only sell low value items it wouldn't be worth it). If and when I hit 4 stars I may think about it!I love this board, have "virtually" met so many lovely people, people I am honoured to count as friends.

one uncertainty I have about this new feedback system is whether you can leave a positive comment AND a low number of stars e.g. an unsatisified customer wants to leave negative feedback but is worried about retaliation so under the new system they leave positive feedback. Seller sees this so gives them a positive back. However, the buyer gives the seller 0's or 1's out of 5 for each category which the seller would be unaware of until they see their averages but even then they wouldn't know which buyers were responsible for their low average ratings.
Could this be a possible scenario? If so, % of positive feedback could lose a lot of value (e.g. a seller could have 100% positive feedback but very low star ratings) and so only the number of stars a seller has would be of any use to a potential buyer.

I am wondering about this too, also it would appear that the buyer does not have to leave the stars in all areas, I.e. I have 11 feedback for communication, dispatch and description, yet only 10 for P&P, in my opinion is not going to be an accurate measure of feedback at all if you can miss categories out!I love this board, have "virtually" met so many lovely people, people I am honoured to count as friends.

Funnily enough, it was me who had the buyer who didn't want any packaging that couldn't be recycled a few months back, and so sent her stuff out wrapped in kitchen paper in a bog-standard envelope!
The ironic thing is that I wouldn't be using these jiffy bags if the wrong ones hadn't turned up! Since the place I bought them from had invoiced me for the right ones, I checked if they wanted them back and they said it wasn't worth the courier costs, so if I could use them, keep them. I now have another 950 to get through before I've got room in the hall to order the usual-size ones again.
I'll brace myself for the deluge of neutrals from the eco-warriors of eBay then!

Why not get a little stamp made up stating "FAIRTRADE ENVELOPE" and stamp them all that might appease them.0 -
Why oh Why cant ebay just concentrate on the important issues like fake accounts, scammers, non payers, people stealing buyers money , auction wreckers ietc nstead of bloody star systems for feedback.
Of course by asking buyers to rate certain things it is going to cause them to maybe give a lower opinion of a seller than they normally would. If you put a suggestion in peoples head it causes doubt- like "was the postage a reasonable price ? " Normally most people dont think about- just happy they got their item- now its putting doubt in their heads and they think " well they charged me £2.50 but the stanps on the jiffy bag say £2- they pocketed 50p- bad seller ! " Forgetting the item arrived nicely packed- maybe with printed reciepts.
A lot of people sell part time on ebay ( i thought this was part of the idea of ebay )- maybe posting after work , not sending email to notify about posting- as its a second income - now the " part-time ebyaers are going to be persucated under this new " star " feedback system.
Is this ebay introducing the gold star at school approach ? Personally I can see millions of holes in the idea- as you have all said- people seeing prices on previous items etc. I notify people on the day of despatch but Im going to be dammend if I am bending over backwards for feedback stars when I have had three auctions wrecked this month - where is the section for where we give Ebays comments & stars- uh ? :mad:0 -

Yep.
All you have to do is add your new e-mail address to your PayPal account
[Log into your PP account, click on the "Profile" Tab, then "e-mail", then click the "ADD" button]
Edited to add:
I forgot that in PayPal, you also have to add your new User ID: Click on the Profile tab, and at the top of the right column, click on "Auctions".
Hi Nightswimmer
I can see in PayPal where I can add my second Email address. Will my Paypal sign on for my account still use my first (default) Email address?
Will I just have one account with one sign on (main Email address) and one password?
If so, how can I view the transaction history on the 2 separate accounts?
Secondly, at the moment I do not seem to have an Ebay Id associated to my PayPal account within my PayPal profile although any buying/selling activity on Ebay uses my current PayPal account (only one Email address).
Do I have to add both Ebay Ids to PayPal to make things work in future? Or if I'm just using the second Ebay Id for buying, will I be prompted as to which PayPal email address I want to use at the point of sale?
I think the confusion lies with the fact that Ebay requires a different email address per Ebay Id and this needs to be linked to a PayPal account, so my PayPal account needs 2 separate email addresses although in reality it is only one PayPal account that has a log on and password (as I understand it) of my original, single email address.....

Hi
Thought I would give you a laugh at the TSFE out there. I offer free P+P it is included in purchase price. Under the new scheme I have 4.5 stars out of 5 for p+p charges - someone wasn't happy with free P+P, go figure!0 -
It just goes to show that *nothing* we do is good enough for our buyers.
