This new system is a waste of time. Get a buyer on a bad day and you've had it! You'll never please everyone all of the time!

I've yet to receive enough new feedback to kick start any stars yet. One thing that I have noticed recently though is that Buyers seem to go to town more with their general comments.... 'Great seller, item described exactly, prompt dispatch...etc', rather than just 'Good seller, thanks'. Maybe they are reminded of all these processes a seller goes through now they're having to complete the star ratings ?

doesnt make much difference, you can say one thing in the feedback "great seller" etc...then mark down every star rating to just one star....or none at all...the seller wont even know who has done it....

I've just sold enough to get the star ratings, and it seems the postage ratings is going to be a major problem as it is purely going to depend on whether the buyer appreciates the other costs involved, not just the actual postage. I barely cover my packaging costs, once you include bubble wrap, envelope etc. (ie charge £1.10 for something which costs £1 in postage alone) but I have obviously already had at least one buyer who felt that it wasn't acceptable.
I assume there is no way of working out which buyers give a low rating?

To be honest, when I buy stuff, I don't even bother to look at the postage cost (what's the point? if it was stated on the auction I agreed to pay it!!). As a seller as well I do appreciate that there are more hidden costs involved, but yes, a lot of people who just buy might not appreciate that.
This is where the system is going to let sellers down, no one buyer is going to think the same, so the star rating won't make a lot of sense after a while.

#95 Nope, it's all 'private' in the respect of knowing who gave what ratings, probably so we won't go after them with questions!

Well I have got 4.5 for items as described, which I find hard to believe as everything sold this month has been brand new, unopened, sealed you name it and described perfectly (or so I thought).

I have 5 for communication. As soon as I see an item sold email, I send an invoice. As soon as I see a paypal payment, I reply thanking the buyer for their purchase and payment and advising the item will be sent that day or the following day. Nowadays, I add the tracking info to the paypal payment.

I have 5 for dispatch time.

I have 0 for postage and packing charges! I don't rip people off (well I don't think I do, because no-one has ever complained). I send out a lot of glass items and I pack well, because nothing has ever been damaged or broken. I re-use boxes where I can to keep costs down. I think I am entitled to charge something for bubble wrap (which I buy by the roll), polystyrene chips (which I pay for), padded envelopes (if I have to use new ones), brown tape, which I use in quantity and fragile tape.
