I'm worried about mine, I had feedback last night from someone, a positive, but who said as part of it 'post reasonable'. To me reasonable only sounds middling, as in not good so I wonder if he marked me down a star because of it. Thing is I charged £1.70 post and packing and the stamps alone were £1.39 and the large jiffy bag approx 19p so I was hardly being excessive as it was a book and took quite a bit of extra wrapping for the corners.

That's the problem with such a star system, everybody is going to have their own idea of what constitutes a particular rating. You could sell the same thing to two different people, each getting the same service, yet end up getting vastly different ratings. i.e. Like in your case Soolin, some people expect the cost of P&P to simply be the price of the stamp, others understand what P&P actually means. :(

It will start to look a bit like the Amazon system and as a seller that is hard work keeping the rating up. Costs me a fair bit of money too to keep unjustified whingers from leaving poor feedback.

There is nothing worse than a comment like:-

"Fantastic service" followed by 4* ...arghhhhhhh.

Mind you in the long run it will even out and anything over 4* on EBay will probably be fine.

My Amazon rating is pathetic, so you've got me worried now Hintza!

Ah well, we can only just do our best ... and then see what happens from there...

I think the new system is madness.... half the people on ebay BUY and SELL... but now its all to easy for people to see how much youve paid for an item they are bidding on.

Im just going to end up getting tonnes of emails from muppets offering less than they saw me purchase an item for.

    I know, it's a pain. :(
Why don't you set up a second account - one for buying, one for selling?

Come on Kriss you have been round the block from your posts....surely you have a buying and selling account?

If you are buying to sell again on Ebay that is madness using one account, far to transparent before and 10x worse now!

Not so much now but in the past most of the stuff I bought on Ebay was for immediate resale, it would never have worked with one account.

kriss, use 2 accounts, never buy and sell from the same account it makes it far too easy for potential buyers to follow your buying trail if you buy to sell.

    Soo

You just set up a new account like normal. The only thing that has to be different is your e-mail address.
Surely I cant use the same paypal account?

Yep. :) All you have to do is add your new e-mail address to your PayPal account

[Log into your PP account, click on the "Profile" Tab, then "e-mail", then click the "ADD" button]

    Edited to add:

I forgot that in PayPal, you also have to add your new User ID: Click on the Profile tab, and at the top of the right column, click on "Auctions".
  • You'll need an new email address but that's all - no need to move house, change your name, create an alternative identity, invent a twin brother etc....
