  • I'm confused and wondered if this has happened to anyone else.

Posted my forms back on the 25th May.

Wed my normal CTC (162)and WTC (46) amounts went in then more went in the next day. Albeit it was slightly less than my usual.

My OH earned around 1k less last year so we were expecting a slight back payment of WTC but none of CTC. Any ideas? Is it maybe a mistake or is it a catch up of this year to date or is this my backpayment from last year?? Never had this happen before unless I had did a change of circumstances which we havent.

Obviously I have no paperwork through either yet!

    Hi all,
Not sure i am posting this in the right place but was wondering if anyone could help me
My 2011/2012 tax credits were based on our previous years earnings of £20,000 then later in the year i rang them to tell them we would probably earn more like £18,000. My husband is a self employed bricklayer and work has been poor so when we did our tax return we worked out he had only earnt £11,400. I have just renewed my tax credits and told them this and was wondering if anyone knows if we will be due anything back as a result of an underpayment? We have three children aged nine, four and two.
    Thanks :)

Presumably you have informed the helpline of any gaps in work or a reduction in remunerative hours?
  • Uh oh. My tax credits normally go in on a Friday yet there's no sign of them today. Should I be worried as I've received no paperwork after renewing a week ago?

I would call them if your regular payment is not in your account.

i told them when his hours dropped from 40 to 30 hours but haven't been ringing in when he has had short periods of no work, should i have been doing this? Thing is some weeks he might have had two days work other weeks a full week etc. He is self employed so works when he has work, he has never been off long enough to warrant claiming job seekers so we have just managed :)

I renewed on the 27th April and have rung several times, too be told it still hasn't been processed. Yet they have all the information needed i was originally told to call back after the 31.5.12 which i did do and yet still not renewed so i rung for about the 5th time last Saturday and spoke a lad who seemed helpful put me on hold while he spoke to his supervisor to see if i cld send anything in to help the process . he said there was no need they had everything,so why is it taking so long i feel like a naughty girl anybody else waited this long ?

I sent my renewal back by post on wed 30th may, got lump sum payment into the bank yesterday (14th June) so 2 weeks & a day it took for mine. I have a joint claim with my husband & we have 2 children, 1 of whom we pay childcare for.
I did think it would take longer this year as I gave a reduced figure due to maternity leave so I thought they would check it. Still waiting on the final letter in the post though!
  • Hi, I WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE COULD TELL ME HOW THE CHILD TAX CREDIT'S WORK. I HAVE TWO DAUGHTERS,I,M A SINGLE WORKING MOTHER. MY DUAGHTER'S ARE 16 AND 14. MY QUESTION IS WHEN MY OLDEST DAUGHTER LEAVES SCHOOL NEXT TO GO INTO HIGHER EDUCATION OR EMPLOYMENT, WILL I BE ENTITLED TO THE CHILD TAX CREDITS FOR MY YOUNGEST CHILD? I EARN JUST OVER £27000, PER YEAR. I KNOW THAT CHANGES ARE COMING TO THE TAX CREDITS. SOUNDS LIKE I EARN A LOT BUT BELEIVE ME THE CHILD TAX CREDITS KEEPS MY HEAD ABOVE WATER . APPRECIATE ANY ADVISE.
