Hi all, I thought I'd join the thread! I'm not a regular poster but I thought it might be nice to talk to likeminded money saver brides! Me and my H2B are getting married on the 7th September 2013. We started planning at the beggining of January
so far we have the registry and reception booked. We know what transport, food and photographer we want but are currently holding back in case we find something a little cheaper elsewhere. I've started favour boxes and collection of bits and bobs, have a dress and have ordered a sample of the bridesmaids dresses (from china). Phew...lots to go though

Haven't posted on here in a while but we're September 7th
We've hardly done any wedding planning for months haha we got bored of it
What we've done so far:- Insurance
- Church
- arranged for banns to be read where we've since moved to
- reception venue
- my dress
- band for evening reception
- cake
- save the dates
- my bag
- chosen our invite stationery (not ordered it yet, doing it this weekend)
- car
- hair and makeup artist
- bought mirror plates and candle holders for centrepieces
- decided on plants for centrepieces but not ordered yet
- started buying bits for kids party boxes
- favours
- photographer
- picked bm dresses, not ordered yet though
- booked honeymoon

We completed our invites this weekend! Early I know but we are soo busy soon with OH's new job and a final exam resit for me we are trying to get everything sorted as early as possible. Very excited to go out delivering them next weekend.0

Hello, I'd like to join this thread too! We got engaged at Christmas and have just booked our venue in Edinburgh for the 7th September. I'm excited, just over 6 months to go, but that means I only have 6 months to plan everything :eek:
So I have a wee question; I'm trying to sort out a celebrant and photographer asap, I figure I might have a problem with folk being already booked. Is there anything else I need to hurry up and arrange?

Congratulations DizzyMagpie, welcome to the thread
One thing that springs to mind is wedding insurance. My friends told us to book wedding insurance, the registrar + venue and the photographer quickly. Florists might be another thing to look at sooner rather than later.

Thanks Timpu, is insurance really necessary? I've already got my dress and am planning to do the flowers, cake, favours and invitations myself. Getting a taxi (black cab) to the venue.0

I'd definitely get insurance, imagine if your venue went bust between now and then. It has happened to a few people on here recently, and a lot can happen in 6 months.
Agree that photographer is important to sort asap. What other services will you be getting in from a supplier and what are you doing yourself?
I'd send out save the dates asap if you're having them, so people are forewarned for booking holidays etc.Mother, wife, scientist, analyst.

We're not doing save the dates, but I am hoping to send out my invites as soon as I get a celebrant. I've not contacted any photographers yet. I might have a look at insurance then, no company seems to be safe from administration these days!
The only other supplier I can think of is getting some chair covers in (I'm not fussed but Mr Magpie is set on having them- weird but hey-ho!).0 -
I booked my insurance with e and l insurance only cost £29 to cover everything. Get a photographer booked soon they get booked up quick.Positivity is the key there is a reason why life happens. Find your rainbow and ride it.0

I know we're late but we've just confirmed the venue (ceremony & reception) and given notice for Sep 14th 2013.
So far we have:
Registrar
Ceremony
Reception
Groom's Suit
Mother of the Bride outfit
Wedding rings
Talking to our preferred band about the date too..
and that's it I think!
Need to get save the date out this weekend and then photographer is next. Unfortunately my preferred tog is already booked for that day which I'm gutted about...0
