Haven't had a chance to read the thread yet, will do so later, but just want to say I've got an avatar:j :j :j Yes OK it is easy when you know how, I just never knew how before:rotfl:

Special thanks to Loubee:D I was checking my e-mails when I saw I had a PM from her, which was about San Diego zoo. That made me think i could use this picture of the panda i took there as an avatar. It's one of many that scroll through as my screensaver. After only three attempts I made it!:oHope you haven't all fallen asleep by now!:rotfl:
Lovely sunny day in London, must get some more washing on the line in a mo, can hear WM on final spin.
Hope everyone is OK .

- it always seems to work out that I get ill on my own time, not my company's  I came down with a nasty bug on Boxing Day 2004, so was ill for 2 Bank Holidays, 3 days annual leave (i.e. the Christmas break) and 3 days of ordinary weekend. Couldn't remember the technicality in my contract about coming under scrutiny if you take sick leave immediately after a holiday period, so went into work for the first 2 days back after New Year. Then took the rest of the week (Thursday and Friday) off sick, and was still ill in bed over the following weekend. So all in all my illness cost me 10 days of my own time, and only 2 of my company's  even though I am on full sick pay when I need it...
Edit: Loubee, I did finally have a look at your photos last night. Firstly, you look exactly as I imagined you, and secondly, I do like the look of your new flat, especially the kitchen which is a really good size for a studio. I was in Crystal Palace yesterday (singing lesson) and whenever I walk past all of those big converted houses I think what a nice place it would be to liveOperation Get in Shape

Afternoon all
Just been online for the past half hour entering various competitions and prize draws - you never know! I used to enter a lot when i was on bed rest for the last 6 weeks of pregnancy and won some vouchers for Verbaudet and a Johnsons baby gift set so i thought i'd get into it again.
Hope everyone is ok today. Got the electric report back on the house, needs a full re-wiringso looking at around 3k to do it. Still waiting for the gas check to be done. Also needs damp-proofing which will be £1200. Oh well we were expecting it, got very lucky getting a 3 (potentially 4) bedroomed house with 2 receptions and 2 cellars for £101,000 so we know we'd have to do work on it.
B - Cereal, tea, orange jucie
D - Beans and cheese on toast
T - Sausage casserole and mash (you gave me the idea elona! I was just doing plain sausage and mash!)
Take care all

Well I sent the parcel off to DGS & dropped into Aunty J as she lives opposite. On the way out she asked if I would take her to some jumble sale in the village this arv. So of course I said yes, I really wanted to do some surfing about our Ireland trip but will do that when I get back.
The computer is playing up again. It's our power pack DH thinks so will go and get that tested tomorrow. Bye for now.
Edited to say I can see Pandy now. Must have been the sun shining on the screen.Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -
Afternoon everyone. I haven't posted for a couple of days. I'm back to w**k and feeling much better. I was really busy yesterday but kept the forum in the background and snook a look every so often. I'm a 60s child and the chat yesterday certainly brought back a lot of memories.
Walnut whips are my favourite too. And yes I remember the 2 walnuts. Even now at w**k if I do a favour for anyone they know to 'pay' me in walnut whips.
It was my youngest dd's 17th birthday yesterday so was out for a meal last night to celebrate. It's a bit scary that my youngest child is now old enough to get behind the wheel of a car!!!
Evening class tonight so a long day. I have a 3000 word essay due in next Friday so this weekend is going to be spent trying to finish that. I don't know why I always leave it to the last minute but that's me all over.
Anyway enjoy the rest of the day.Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts - DFW Nerd 323

Hi all
It's the 3rd day of my week off w*r* and I am loving it! Yesterday I had carpet fitted in two bedrooms, the landing and the stairs - it looks fab and it's so lovely to walk around in bare feet. The house is new, so it's the first time there has ever been carpet down. Yesterday afternoon I spent time getting one of the bedrooms organised with furniture and storage. It's actually going to be the guest room - and very cosy it is too! I'm going off out tomorrow to look for bedroom furniture for my own bedroom, I've spotted a complete suite of furniture for less than a grand _pale__pale__pale_ so I think I will go for it - it'll be fantastic to have a useable guest room and a finished bedroom of my own. I've got a Very Very Important Visitor coming to stay for St.Patrick's Day which I am really excited about, and I'm so relieved that there is a furnished and comfortable room for her and her OH to stay in.
Today I've been to the opticians to swap from monthly disposable lenses to daily disposables - cheaper for me as I'm not wearing my contacts as much as I thought I would. Later today I'm having my hair done - I can't stand people fiddling with my hair and really do not like salons, so I've got a mobile hairdresser coming to the house. I hope it goes ok.
In the meantime I need to continue with The Big Clean of the sitting room and kitchen. I get so behind with it, but really, really do need to start doing a little bit every day as it is highly embarrassing when someone calls round unexpectedly.
Oh and as Pink mentioned, our local elections are on today, so I'll be out to cast my vote. I wandered into Lidl yesterday for some milk and flour etc, but the choice there isn't that good, eg no wholemeal flour, only brown vinegar, so will hit Sainsbury's to top up.
Moggins, glad to hear you are keeping your chin up. I second what Nelski said yesterday and hope that you will still do the course you were interested in. It might be quite a lot of money to spend but it will be an investment as it will lead to you having a higher income in the long run.
Amie...5.5lbs....Oh dear...but it'll come off again, you know it will.
Bargain Rzl...lol at losing holiday when sick...well, not really laughing. I've had the flu three times since starting my latest(!) job - you don't get paid for the first three days of absence, so my last pay cheque was six days pay short. My pay was therefore eye wateringly low.
My enduring memory of the 80s was the craze for lacy fingerless gloves and for straw hats. I wore my hat to a disco (Come on Eileen!!) but some horrible boy took it off me and I never got it back. I was so upset. My most exciting memory was going to see Howard Jones in concert and waiting around afterwards and getting invited in to the after show party! My friend and I were practically doing somersaults as we were so chuffed.
Well, back to the cleaning, bye for now.

Afternoon Guys!
Been sleeping off and on all morning. Think my body has shut down today as I have the energy to do nothing! My essay has been completed:D OH has posted it off for me and a letter to the OU as they have messed up the extra time Im allowed for an exam I have in June
The house is generally tidy, but have managed to do a washload (OH put on airer), DW emptied (OH did), toilet cleaned and have been showered:o ...OH has also done some grouting in the kitchen and looks lovely.
OH did the 2nd hand school shop yesterday and raised £87 for the PA fund. The PA have just bought a new school minibus costing 22k so they have done really well over the past year raising funds.
Had a lovely email from the new company I have gone with for the cleaning and she said my home was lovely....I bet she says that to everyone:rolleyes: and to just confirm a few details. I have a good feeling about this. I just have to find someone to iron for me for a couple of hours a week, but SIL has offered again..but we shall see.
I will have to go as Im flagging too much. I really dont feel so good today. Cant moan, have a had a few good days...well OK days anyway:rotfl:
Hugs to all.

Hi everyone!
Been a few days since I've been on the thread but having been dipping in and out in a bid to keep up but things move soooo fast here sometimes. Hugs to those who need them.
All of this talk of the 80s...I lived my teens through them and seem to remember spending alot of time taking jeans in so they were skin tight and then sewing red piping down the sides. I also used to have a very unflattering pair of shorts I used to wear which were rolled up at the side and having seen a similar pair on TOTP2 looked more like a nappy!! My music was more Spandau and Madness. I think Suggs is holding up rather well although a little more stout these days!!
OS today so far has been floor washing and making the beds. OH will set the BM and he's doing smoked salmon wraps for tea tonight. I will need to do the shopping list whilst catching up on a taped prog from the weekend. I picked up the judith Levine book from the library yesterday...it makes interesting reading but I don't think it's one I would go back to so shan't buy it.
Hope you all enjoy a thrifty day.
