I think I may have accidentally agreed to take on another dog, so days full of dog related activities are going to become more regular I think!

The internet is good for keeping in touch with people who live a distance away, but I think it also cons you in to thinking you are interacting socially, when in actual fact you are sat at home and could not have seen another human being for a long time. (saying this on a forum is a little ironic!)

You can't just casually mention another dog and not give us the details :D is it another GSD? How exciting!!!!

I am kind of looking for another, but more likely it will be after the summer, so that we can get away without worrying about pooch. That said, if I happen upon the perfect dog in the meantime...... :)

It is a staffy puppy who is in desperate need a of home. She is currently being fostered by the lady I got Tyson from but she already has two GSDs of her own so is struggling with the three of them. She has tried for ages to rehome the pup but can't find anyone suitable as she needs to live with an older male dog and can't be left alone for too long.

Unfortunately I have the ideal set-up to take her on! I have said I will take her as a trial to see how Tyson gets on with her and if they are fine together I will keep her.

I am starting to get a little nervous now. This week I have pretty much every evening booked up with some sort of activity, and the weekend too. However next week I don't have so much going on. I think I am still at the point with the ex where I need to keep busy and am just worrying I won't be busy enough!

    Thanks Millie :)

I was supposed to be going on a meetup walk on Saturday, but not sure if I can take the dog. I might be too nervous to go if I can't :(

I was also supposed to be at brownies tonight but had to work late so missed it. Not doing too well at the moment and motivation is lacking

This thread inspired me to check out my local meetup group - there's a picnic in the park coming up soon which should be good (if this nice weather continues, and I'm feeling brave enough to go along!).

I used to volunteer at a dog rescue centre, but can't get there anymore as I've moved house (and don't have a car) - I miss it, both the social aspect and the lovely dogs. I'm hoping to get a dog of my own soon and my neighbour is planning to get a dog later this year so I'll have at least one dog walking buddy. :)

Went to my first meetup today, a lovely walk. A friend from work came with me as she likes walking and also wants to meet people.
The rest of the group were really nice and friendly and I have put my name down now for a few more things. Hopefully won't be too nervous to go on my own now I know a few faces.

Dogs definitely do get you out and about meeting people. I would be lost without him, even if he does cause me no end of drama!
  • Join an organization on your place that you think is interesting. :)And just like the advise of other people on this forum, go for a walk in your park with your dog. there are a lot of people you can talk to in park. :)

Did you get along to the picnic?

I have found plenty of things to do, but my motivation is lacking again. I like the comfort of just sitting at home and not having to push myself in to meeting people, but I know that I can't keep doing this.

Maybe this is you trying to tell yourself something, ie maybe this is some of what you need right now, chilling out at home and not doing anything for some of the time? just for now, not forever

I am only saying this as it's something I really struggle with and I put myself under pressure to be "doing" all the time

Not sure where you are in the midlands, but if you are anywhere near the Lickey Hills and fancy meeting up for walkies with the dog(s) one day, gimme a yell :D Would love a GSD cuddle
