    Don't give up Phil!

My social circle is slowly increasing, but I am hoping it will continue to increase. So I guess I would fall in to the category you are talking about of people who already have friends, and yet I would never turn down making new friends.

Also, not sure if this is the case in your situation or not...

I suffer with periods of depression and I feel such a burden on other people. Maybe it would help your wife feel better if she can see she is not holding you back? If you are able to go out and be happy and meet people it may help her? Just a thought

Hello everyone, thanks for the words of support. Reading through them last night got me thinking and now I have taken what I hope to be a big step this morning. I have just signed up for the London Marathon 2013!!! Don't ask me why as I am overweight and have not run anywhere in years by hay-ho, I needed to do something!!!

Our No2 son was diagnosed with cancer at 2 weeks old and I always knew that the charity who help support his treatment and research were always looking for more funding so I called them this morning and agreed to take up one place as they said that was their next 'big thing'.

Hopefully having to go out and raise £2000 for the charity to allow me to 'buy' the place in the marathon this will get me out and talking to people. Then there is the small matter of the training. I do live out in the country so it will be easy for me to just go for a run on my own, but I will try and find a local running/jogging club.

    aaaaaahhhhhhh what have I done.....

How is the training going Phil?

Hope everyone else is doing well.

I am still going to meetup events and am now an organiser. I am struggling to come up with ideas for events that are free or cheap though! Most people are struggling for money at the moment so it would likely be quite useful to be able to host some cheap events.

I arranged a dog walk last week which seemed to go quite well. I had two new people turn up and a couple of regulars so that was quite nice. Its just not really the weather for that sort of thing now.

Pooch enjoyed meeting some new friends too, so I am expanding his social circle as well :)

Need to give myself a kick again to get back out there. Let things slip a bit recently and have been lax at keeping in touch with people.

Hopefully meeting a friend for coffee tomorrow so should start up my socializing again. Money is not helping matters though!
