I challenged myself to go to a local volunteer fair, and am now looking at becoming a helper with the local brownies group.

Sorry for posting so much on here, its kind of becoming my personal motivation diary to keep me going and keep me moving forward!

Had my friend visit yesterday with her young daughter. We had a lovely afternoon at the park and playing with my dog :)

I have to cancel my kickboxing session tonight due to my sisters birthday but I am going to re-book for next week.

I am struggling a little with motivation to get up and do things at the moment. Spending far too long in bed :(

Re-booked kickboxing for after pay day so I can afford to sign up for it.

Still struggling with sleep, sleeping far too much.

Also finding evenings difficult with missing the ex. Hurts like hell what he did to me, but I do miss the company.

Keeping trudging on though, I know eventually it will get easier :)

Hi Katy, just thought you could do with this: (((hugs)))

You should be really proud of yourself, just look at all the things you've tried so far and all the plans you've made.

Like you say, it will get easier. Take care x.

    Aww thanks tea lover :)

Its difficult to see the things I am managing to do whilst I am stuck in the middle of it, which is why I am updating on here to prove to myself that I CAN do it!!

Common sense says it will get easier, just sometimes it doesn't feel like that

:wavey: Katy. Sorry to hear that things are tough. I'm struggling with motivation at the moment too, so keep trying to take baby steps and set myself mini challenges :)

    How is the GSD? :D

He is good thanks Millie, keeping me entertained :)

I think mini challenges are keeping me going too. I want to challenge myself to go to the pub down the road one evening for a drink, but for some reason it seems such a huge step at the moment. I don't know why as I know the landlady and she will chat to me. I just think if I can do that then I will start to get to know people quite quickly. Might have to give myself time to build up to that though.

I have signed up for quite a few meetup.com events although haven't attended any yet. Think my first one is on saturday and I am already nervous!

    Hey,

You're doing great! I'm impressed with the things you're making the efoort to do.

In terms of moving from the chatting at a club or group stage of friendship to the visiting for tea/doing things outside of the place you met the friend goes, I'm slowly discovering that while it's going to take time to develop that friendship, there are ways to help it over that hurdle a bit.

Personally, having just moved to a brand new area where I know no one other than my oh, I've started making friends with the people I work with. I've always been a bit shy too about making friends, but having got to a point where I feel I actually need RL people to chat to about things other than my oh, this is what I've been doing:

I chat to a couple of people in particular at work who I seem to get on with pretty well... then the other week I finally just bit the bullet and asked both separately if they'd like to come visit my house and watch a film and get a take-away or something while my oh was out drinking with his cousin.
Neither could do that particular evening, but both invited me to their houses on different evenings!!

I think people are generally honored to be invited out somewhere, maybe think about how you would respond to someone else chatting to you and go for it!! People aren't generally so mean that they'd be harsh or rude to you.

Good luck and keep it up!

    re: The pub,

Try going when it will be a bit quiet to start with land lady will have time.
Don't plan for too long, like on the way back from shopping for one drink.

Less pressure, can allways stay longer if things go well.

As you work from home can you work evenings and free up day time to get out, sun even cloudy does most of us good.

Thanks Froom, I will keep that advice in mind for when I meet people I would like to be friends with. I don't always have to wait for them to make the first move with regards doing things outside of that scenario I know them from :)

I could try the pub on a thursday evening maybe. It will be busy enough that people won't turn and look at me when I walk in, but quiet enough that I should be able to talk to the landlady. One drink is fine, as I can't afford any more :)

I do manage to get out and about with the dog during the day which is nice :)
