So annoyed tried getting through 12 times over 2 weeks to claim, losing money calling them and in my entitlement. Do you know if they back date claims?0

Tried ringing Tax Credits Hotline, five times and waiting over 35 minutes each time for absolutely nothing at all, really annoying!!!!
Crazy stuff!!0 -
Just tried the new number for international callers - you get a message stating that you are calling from the UK, refer to the gov.uk website..... AAhhhhhhh!
21 times I've tried calling so far and got through to that ridiculous answering system and given them everything security question under the sun. I know it's a local call but when you don't have anytime calling with your phone company, this adds up.
I need to call as I have been sent two forms! Plus I need to discuss Healthy Start vouchers which they still haven't authorised after 2 months.
Having been a civil servant in the past - this doesn't surprise me unfortunately.0 -
After failing to get through to a human being on the Tax Credit helpline at the beginning of June, I wrote a letter to them. Five weeks later I got a response - telling me I have to phone them! I tried but, after about three minutes talking to a recording, I was told there was no one to help me and the call was terminated.0

I managed to get through to a human yesterday after being asked by the automated recording what I was ringing for. I think I was just lucky!0

Hi angel cake having same problem as you my husband used my mobile to phone them thinking it was free as our landline has been restricted as we have no money.we are trying to arrange for them to take money direct from our income support at an amount we can afford.to pay off an overpayment which i do not think is correct anyway but you cant get anywere with these people. After 35 minutes got a human who tells me i am ringing the wrong department and he didnt know if we could pay the money back that way and to ring another number but have a ful income and expenditure sheet ready. So he rings the other number and waits for 40 minutes before putting the phone down. Then to my horror i find out this call has probably cost me over £25 . So i ring back fuming at 7.45pm to get an automated message saying they were very busy and call again tommorrow i am absolutely livid and so angry at myself not checking how much they charge people for their bloody unhelpful helpline. This government and whole system is a joke . Wish u luck angel x0
