I'm sick of being on hold with them.. its costing me a fortune. Is there a free phone number I can call? or one that will use my free minutes on my mobile? thanks in advance.
  • Finally found out whats going on. As per usual with government computer systems they are unable to run without a glitch when it comes to money.
My missing payment will be paid this coming Monday and then continued payments will begin based on the new circumstances of my child continuing education.

They dont seem to realise that self employed people like myself whose businesses have taken a downturn rely on this money. The woman on the phone was also rude.

So all in all another bad experience with tax credits.

    Hi

I renewed my tax credits with the form they sent out, back in mid June.

I am still receiving the money I had been receiving prior to completing the renewal form, but I haven't received my final award notice.

I need this notice to prove I am in receipt of this benefit, but just can't get through on the helpline. Is anyone else still waiting this long for their final award notice?

This happened to us last year, we finally got our final award round about the 17th September.

Renewed by phone this year and got the award notice within a week (and had no trouble getting through to the helpline either).

I think that, if I was in your position, I'd ring them and check that they have received your form.

I have found in the past if you start ringing a few minutes before they are due to open the helpline it was easier to get through. Last time I started dialling about 3 minutes before they were due to open and got through ok. It might be worth a go.
  • 38 minutes waiting so far....
    Debts 2004: £6000..............................................Aug 2007: £0!!!!
  • I usually phone Saturday morning or 7 o'clock of an evening without much problem.
I have unlimited evening and weekend calls with BT and the calls don't cost me anything either.
  • Hi,
I understand that there is a quiet period (8am-11am) where I can call the hotline, but unfortunately I am taking the kids to school at this time and then straight into work :(.
So far I have tried to contact the Tax Credits hotline 3 times to tell them my change in circumstances and each time after 5 minutes of talking to a machine, feeding it my details, just after it tells me someone will be with me and warning me there is a high volume of calls waiting...it turns round and tells me too many people are in the queue and says Goodbye and then i get disconnected. This was at around 4pm today I tried.
  • it doesnt get any better, im sat here now trying to get through to change my address and its been 20 mins on hold, i tried yesterday but after 15 mins i gave up. this is ridicules. plusnet are just as bad.
