  • Hi I was struggling to get through to the helpline number for weeks but tried the 01335 number and got through straight away thank you to whoever posted the number I told them I posted my form from spain they were very helpful the first time I rang though they told me to ring the 0345 number but ring back and get another operator hope this helps
  • I had been struggling to get through since Friday! First time I have had to renew so didn't anticipate how hard it would be to get through!

I WILL know better next year!!

I'd been calling first thing in morning, last thing at night and various times in between to get through all the spiel then be told we can't take your call at this time, try again later!! So frustrating, I'd much rather engaged line than sitting getting false hope your call might be answered!!

Anyway, this morning I tried calling the overseas number 02890 538 192! I'd seen a handy hint not to press any buttons to direct you to the renewal queue, just to let the system process your call and put you through to anyone!

Finally I got through after about a 10 minute wait, spoke to a guy who was very helpful, didn't say anything about me going through on that number! Was asking him about the process (as its my first time I'm not quite sure what happens etc), I also mentioned about the difficulty in getting through and what would happen if I hadn't been able to get through, and he did say there is a few days grace and your payment wouldn't stop immediately! He was quick to get me off the phone though! Wouldn't want to be working in that call centre today....or any time leading up to today!

The majority of the population are procrastinators blondebubbles, it's a natural human condition :) They know this and should cater for it. The Inland Revenue are the same, but that's another story.
    Come the revolution.....;)

Try it from your mobile (unless that's what you did of course :)). If you get through, be prepared to get shouted at.

It's an unauthorised number for UK based people and skips the queue ahead of everyone else who dials the proper number. I would be VERY surprised if you were shouted at...........

That's good to know! I gave up yesterday and put mine in the post first class. Hope they don't require it to be returned in the 2nd class envelope provided!
  • Our renewals pack was delivered in error to the property next door which has been empty for several months. I had been trying to call the helpline to advise I had not received the pack but couldn't get through! The new neighbours delivered all our post this weekend and I have been trying to get through to the helpline to renew since Saturday. Just called 01355 359007, got through straight away and spoke to a very helpful and friendly advisor and all sorted within 10 mins...
  • Just tried this and the first thing it says is "you've contacted the department from the UK, this line is for international callers only"

:( my moneys going to be stopped I just know it :(

I can't get through as all. Sent my form back late (they should have received it today) but panicking now in case they stop my money due tomorrow as the hubby doesn't get paid until tuesday. Tried the overseas number and no joy with that, get told to phone the normal one.

I got that when I did it from my landline, but then I used my mobile and got through. I got told off (depends on the nature of the person at the other end it seems) but he took the details.
