What stops you going to the cinema?

Just booked to go see Avengers tonight in 3D. Tickets cost £2 more than 2D but it doesn't include your glasses...they're an extra £1 on top if you need them. Luckily we have some already but by the time you've added on the booking fee too it gets pretty steep0

And they now search your bags to stop you bringing your own goodies. Here and hereAmba_Gambla wrote: ȣ7.20 for a medium drink + popcorn
The excuses given to watchdog are hilarious!
Another reason to buy the DVD and watch at home,

I don't think it's right not being allowed to take in your own drinks or food - but why eat crisps, one of the noisiest foods known to man?!
I can't understand why some people don't think they can last an hour and a half with no food though.0 -
The local cinema got taken over by Odeon in December time, they kept the current prices roughly until mid January when they decided to hike the cost of a "peak" ticket from £6 to £8, put the prices of "off-peak" from £5 to £6.50, and got rid of £3.50 Mondays & Wednesdays. So for someone like me whom always used to watch the movies on the Mondays & Wednesdays, for the price to double was enough not to warrant visiting the cinema again.
Not to mention they got rid of the pre-paid ticket collection point in the lobby, forcing people to join the queue for the overpriced popcorn & drinks in order to collect the tickets, and the cost of "card-processing" changed from 50p per order to 80p per ticket.
I can't comment on the price changes for the food & drinks as I never purchased food or drinks from the old chain0 -
What stops me from going to the cinema...........45 years ago my nanna told me that the mice would bite my feet.0

I don't go to the cinema because I can't abide the Newchavscum* - normally 13 to early twenty year olds who talk and shout across to their friends and generally misbehave and use mobiles.
* The Newchavscum are not limited to any social class. They can be from a broad social spectrum but have one thing in common: They think of nothing but Me! Me! Me!The man without a signature.0 -

It soon became evident that this is about the easiest way to get your card cloned and I'm amazed that a cinema is still doing it. What a bunch of idiots.
What cinema was it? If you're keen to go, a quick letter to head office would no doubt clear up this silly little practice and allow you to leave something else as a deposit.
Both the Empire and Odeon do this, I did email the Odeon but I was told this is company policy. Once the loop didn't work, I told them before the film started it wasn't working, they just shrugged their shoulders

It seems to me that the staff at the cinemas can do very little technically. I've encountered cases where the sound level was so low no one could hear, the picture was juddering, and a film that was advertised was not being shown (there were plenty of empty screens available) and in each case all they could do was, metaphorically, at least, shrug. (On a couple of occasions they were at least apologetic and offered a refund/free tickets).0 -
I can't vote because my choices are missing!
[1] I can usually get the movie from internet anyway (often free
)
[2] In case I want to visit the cinema, lack of free parking puts me off.Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.0
