  • My teenage daughter has phoned her favourite restaurant and booked a table for Sunday lunch for the two of us, in her name. It'll cost her less than a pound, 'cos I'll be paying! But d'you know what? I'm still so proud. 'Cos I'm her Mum.

Hows about this for a cheap present! Someone on here a while ago posted a link to a survey on a money website about mothers days in the present and past, and what you have done. Well I completed the survey and won the prize draw which is this...

It will be delivered to my mum on Sunday morning as they have now took all her details from me :)

Id already planned to cook the family sunday roast (she has done it every week since I was a kid!), but this makes the whole day extra special.

Now do I tell her the truth that I won them as I know she will be like "I told you not to spend this much money on me!!!" or do I take lots of credit and keep the secret? Knowing that someone will tell her one day, more than likely...

  • Gorgeous flowers! Lucky you (and lucky your Mum!) If you think someone else will tell her eventually then I would tell her now. I'm sure she will still be over the moon, and think how clever you are to win the prize for her!

How to make your mum special for under a quid!
Well, I spent £1.00 and 30p on a plant in Wilkinsons for my mum to plant outside. I prefer that to buying flowers as the plant (Forsythia) will last for many years to come.
She's worth that extra 30 pence!

  • My two boys are just 11 and 15. For Mothering Sunday (apart from getting told off for going down to get a glass of water first thing ... and washing the dishes - I was too ill yesterday - so they wouldn't have to wash them first, but I think I got away with that one) I had "breakfast" in bed. It was a cup of scalded coffee, a slice of fruit cake, an apple cut into four, and a rather large bowl of muesli ... but I was so proud of them doing it by themselves.

Oh, and a whole two hours before the squabbling started, so I could call my mother and actually read half of saturday's newspaper too!
