I got my mum the boots sanctuary skincare gift bag rrp £12 but use the £5 sacntuary skincare voucher found in boots stores + the £3 sanctuary skincare voucher in the advantage mag brings it to £4, if you are lucky enough to have boots vouchers from pigsback (like me
) it works out free! (if not its still only £4! go on she is your mum after all!!)

also if you buy another sanctuary product at the same time you should be able to get a free weekend bag (see below) worth £10 for free (could always give that to her as well or give it to her for her birthday)

A couple of years ago, DS gave me a photo frame, which contained his hand prints and a little poem that said:
This is to remind you
When I have grown quite tall
That I once was very little
And my hands were very small
It cost pence to make, and I love it.....I'll always keep it, as long as I live."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -

This post has reminded me of many years ago when my ds1 and ds2 were much younger ( both grown up and married now ) I was in a terrible mood with them over something, so when they asked me if there was anything I would like for mothers day I said huffily " I dont want anything off you two!",
and guess what I got, surprise ! surprise ! NOTHING!!!!
Well I got what I asked for, and it taught me a lesson. We laugh over it now but at the time I was gutted.
So get your mum something and let her know you care.0 -
Last year, I got a lovely card from my DS (1yr at the time).
I am a Welsh speaker, DP is not, and DS is being brought up bilingually. The card said (i'll quote it, cos I'm guessing not many Welsh speakers on the site) "Happy mother's Day Granny"!!
You see, my Mum is Nain, which is North Walian, so Dh thought that Mamgu (grandmother) was the same as Mam....
But do you know, I treasure that card, cos DH made a special effort to make sure that DS got his Mam a Welsh language card.
I think I got a CD as well, but that card was soooo special,
MM (mami, not mamgu!)
xx
p.s DH's Welsh coming on famously - so hopefully this year???!"!!0 -

Everyone knows Mom is worth splashing out on.......please!!
I would love to be able to spend lots on my mum, but being a student and just getting a mortgage for the first time this is just not possible. So here is my idea which will cost you, however much a basket and some tissue paper will cost. Although it does require some planning. For the last few months i have been on the look out for buy one get one free offers, on toiletries and other treats. However i have only bought things that i will use that way i have bought the treat for myself and put the free one away.
For mothers day my mum will be recieving a lovely basket that contains:
Radox Bubble Bath
Shampoo
Conditioner
Dove Bath Creme
Dove Soap
Large bar of Galaxy Chocolate
Johnsons Holiday Skin, Gradual Tan
Lip balm
Lemon Shower Gel
And a note saying "Go on, treat your self you deserve it"
Im sure she will love it and its free (minus a basket and tissue paper)

In tescos they have a lovely mug which either says from your little angel or from your little devil. They are only 97p and I think that they are lovely, I certainly wouldnt mind getting one from my little devil. :rotfl:0

Bake a cake or biscuits. Me & kids did this a few years ago. Baked sponge cake and added icing on top with happy mothers day iced on, I guess would come under £1 or not much more depending on what you've got in the cupboard. Very personal and made with effort.
Other idea that we've used buy a cheap plate (we brought plain white from tesco's for under £1). Kids then used poster/ acrylic paint to paint the plate as they wished, we then added happy mothers day around the rim. Did tell grandmas to put a coat of varnish on to protect paint from coming off. Again very personal. Personally speaking I prefer something my sons have made(and daughter when old enough) to anything they could have brouht from the shop.
I do like the idea of painted hands/ feet, how about a canvas from HB and doing the prints on that. so can be kept even if not in a frame.:smileyhea:heart: Mrs Lea Nov 5th '11:smileyhea
