The Great 'Mother's Day Pressie For Under A quid' Hunt

A quick visit to our local shop..lots of bars of chocolate for under 50p pure indulgence and mum would not have to worry too much about the calories. Turkish delight and Cadbury's flake etc., etc., even a chocolate egg can be wrapped up in tissue paper and tied with a ribbon or some left over material and ribbon.
Tesco's or Superdrug have great offers on for bubble baths, hand cream, moisturisers all under £1.00. Buy off the shelf rather than in fancy packaging and wrap it yourself.
Our local garden centre has some lovely scented candles. The smaller ones are less than £1 and can be wrapped.
A search through the smellies section and you will find soap leaves in a tiny packet, great for keeping in your handbag.
In the gardening section packets of seeds are an ideal present. Being a mum I think these have to be my preference. Many are under £1.00.
(I always save wrapping and ribbons from xmas presents and birthdays, and the tissue paper from round bouquets of flowers can be carefully removed and used again and the see through wrapping is great for re-wrapping gifts. Beaded jewellery that has been outmoded can be broken down and threaded on gold and silver thread. Raid your christmas trimming box for this and tied round a wrapped gift looks very professional.)
I am a mother and a grandmother several times over which means that my daughter who is also a mother and my son both want to take me out. So I have all the family round for a good old fashioned sunday roast dinner...yes I cook on mothering sunday...we have been disappointed in the past with restaurants over booking and poor meals as a result.... I thoroughly love have everyone round and I never know what they are going to bring with them.0 -
Just don't do what I did, spotted the most amazing crystal vase in a charity shop bought it for my Gran for Mother's Day (she was Mum for a few years, long story) then I took it to show my Mum. Only Mum thought it was for her and I didn't have the heart to tell her! So on the hunt still for something for my GranCC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J0

Its my sister's 21st birthday on 18th March, as well as my parents wedding anniversary, AND Mother's Day. As I need to buy presents for all 3 all these idea's are excellent!
I've bought my sister (who's expecting) a photo frame, and poster paints for the baby's hand and foot prints when s/he is born (as well as some champagne and chocolates - on special offer!). My mum has got a voucher from Tiscali, promising to take her out for a meal (when I'm feeling more flush!). And I'm still search for an anniversary present but I think I might give them a box of kisses each, with different reasons in.
Another suggestion, that I did for my mum for Christmas, was to buy 3 plain wooden frames for £1, and put an old picture of myself as a small child in one, my sisters in the second, and my mum and all three of us in the third.
Finally, something my mum did for us...was to buy a large photo album each, and put pictures of us from being a few hours old, until today. She started the album with pictures of both sets of grandparents, then my parents. A great way to clear out photo's but a gift of precious memories that I'll treasure forever.Married my wonderful husband 31st July 2011 :j

I live in Thatcham in Berkshire.......
(My brothers Birthday in 18th March, Sister is 25th March, Mothers day 18th March).
So I'm combining all three-and driving up for the weekend - and here's something - SPEND TIME WITH MY MUM. (Of course - if you live near your Mum - it wont even cost you the petrol - but I'm combining 3 events to economise)
Each year I go up for Mothers Day (or as near the date as I can)... cook her dinner, give her kitchen a good clean, repair things for her (last year it was broken shelving, a kitchen drawer and a cupboard) - clear any bulky rubbish for her down to the council "dump" etc. All those things that she can't manage.
Then we site down in the livingroom for the evening - with a glass of wine (usually a bottle that she's been given at Christmas or something) - and TALK. YES - TALK - the TV gets turned off and we talk about when I was a kid, how much trouble I got into, her hopes and fears - anything she wants to talk about....and she totally has my full attention... even my mobile phone gets turned off!!!!!
TIME - is the most precious gift you can give... ... and the best way to make mum feel loved and important (once you have given your time you can't earn it or get it back!!)
