  • Hi Anon
I was the same as you,I was paying £35.00 for 3 services and when I phoned I also got the 3 for £30 deal. The following day though I rang back and asked about having a V+ box installed as well as keeping my old box. Now I am going to be paying £39 for life for:

V+ box downstairs with XL TV
Old box upstairs with XL TV
    2mg broadband
    L phone

    Well pleased!

I think that is a good deal too. Probably the best value. I got quoted the same except I didn't need the second box and it was £34.95 for life.
This thread is getting really long now and it's hard to quickly read all the various deals that people are getting. Do you think hat we should start a new fresh thread where people simply write the services that they are now getting, the price and the length of the deal?
  • Hi All

just came off the phone to virgin media saying 'im thinking of cacelling my services'.

i was on 3 for £30, basic tv (in bedroom as have sky hd tv), line rental, 2mb broadband.

response was how would you like freeview in bedroom, 2mb b/band and unlimited DAYTIME landline calls for £16.99 a month, for life.

i wanted to say 'LOVE IT' but said 'yeah, sounds ok'

im saving £13 a month and have unlimited daytime, evening and weekend calls. Very Happy.

As I've been with ntl since they were Telecenntial, or possibly something else, for my phone since moving to this house in 1996, later adding TV and then broadband, I decided to plead 'loyalty'. I've never been keen on making phone calls, and since being off sick with depression for the last three years it's been even worse, so just phoning was difficult for me. Jen answered my call within about five minutes, despite the message saying queues were 30 minutes, and was lovely. She says that my phone, TV and broadband packages can be merged and then discounted. That apparently takes a bit of time, and she said she'd phone me back after 6:00 to sort it out. She rang soon after 6:00, and it's going to take longer than she has time for before going home, but as she's coming in early tomorrow to sort out another customer, she'll do mine then as well, and will phone me at about 9:15 to go through the package. But it looks like I'll be saving about £20 or more a month, so I'm happy.
Incidentally, I've never had problems with ntl, and was always happy with Virgin when I bought my first mobile phone from them the day after they introduced them.
Update: as promised, Jen rang this morning, she's merged my accounts, we discussed what I wanted and how much I wanted to pay, so I've stayed with the same 4MB broadband, XL TV and whatever the phone is, but it's now £35 instead of £56.50. Excellent service, and I've written to her manager to praise her.

It a shame SKY cant offer the same customer service or they may not be losing as many customers as they are!!!!!!!!1

Having followed all this thread, you are the only one who got the same deal as me (apart from a 49p difference ;) ) Great deal :D

This is what I had before I called

    2mg Broadband £9.99
    XL T.V £10.25
    Landline £5.25
    Caller display and voicemail £3
£28.50 per month, I phone up every 6 months to get this.

I was on a good package aready. So phoned up and got 6 months free sky movies for 6 months,

I phoned up a few days later and said that I hadn't watched the movie channels yet and the missis was missing LOST, and was looking at installation dates. I asked about the V+ Box and I was able to get this free for 6 months and the other box relocated to another room. after six months It will go up by £10.50.

    Now
    2mg Broadband
    XL T.V
    Landline free evening weekends
    Caller display and voicemail
    6 months free Movies
6 months Free V+ Box and free install (£10.50 month thereafter)

Total £25.50 per month for life, no more phoning up every six months, except to nagotiate Sky Movies and the VBOX

    I'm still in shock.

P.S Also I have a new laptop and wanted wireless, I also stated that if I went with other service providers I could get a free wireless router, they said if I bought one from the accessories shop they can credit my account up to £40 if I sent them the receipt.

    WOO HOO

I'm not going to ask for anything else, don't want to push my luck.

It's true if your polite and have a laugh with them and push as far as you can, you can get a fantastic deal. I got my dad to call and a couple of friends to try it on but they where unsuccesfull.

I have sent a letter attached to the receipt of the wireless kit, thanking her and listing and confirming what she gave me. I hope she still works there and hasn't got the sack.

    I was on:

    Broadband M
    Phone M (just weekend free)
TV XL (the guy called it supreme)
    V+

    for £50 per month

They offered £34 for life, no new contract. I accepted.

Just said I was thinking of moving to Sky what could he do to my bill?

Reduced to £34 per month for life, no new contract straight away. Asked for 1 month free Sky Sports, but he wouldn't do it due to 'contractual agreements'. I mentioned MSE.com and that some had got it but wasn't moving so I just said yes.

Fair play to Virgin for not putting up a fight, I set a target of £35 before I phoned so couldn't really see the point in pushing further, should I have?
