just phoned Got bill down from 66.50 a month to 45 a month for life. Already on XL TV and broadband. Got upgrade to evening and weekend on phone and a free month of movies and sport. very happy .. nice guy keith from edinburgh call centreNon omne quod nitet aurum est0

I called this morning and the guy said the following in a nutshell:
Virgin media is not responsible for SKY pulling out their services and they are currently working on a resolution. VM is unwilling to offer any goodwill gesture whilst these discussions is taking place regardless. If Sky is not returned then tough luck and I should make a formal complaint to SKY. I am bound to the 12 month contract regardless SKY is returned or not and within the contract is states that VM is not responsible if service providers withdraw their services.
Basically if you within a contract, you are in no position to negociate even if they are not giving you what you originally signed up for. I am legally bound to paying for a service that I do not longer want due to bickering coorporations and there is nothing I can do about it.0 -
I am sure Virgin have stated that they will not hold people to a contract if they wish to cancel before the end of this month.0

Can I cancel my contract?
At Virgin Media we're all about being honest and doing the right thing.
So, even if we've done everything we can to persuade our TV customers to stay, and they still want to disconnect their TV service, then we're not going to hold them to their 12 month contract. We'll allow them to cancel at any time up to the end of March although they need to give us 30 days notice. This commitment will not impact our contractual rights to recover any outstanding arrears owing at the time of cancellation.

They need to drill a hole in the wall to bring in the cable from the street to your house.
ADSL (through your phone line) is £15/month
Cable broadband (requires a small hole like a tv aerial to be drilled) is £10/month0 -
I went onto mention Virgin plus and the long and the short of it is that for my current 3 for £30 I got upgraded TV to supreme and a V+ box at no extra charge - indefinitely!!!!!!
I´m stunned.

my 1st post - am so chuffed with my virgin deal. We were paying £48 for XL TV, 2MB broadband & evening/weekend calls. Now have same TV, 4MB broadband and free calls 24/7 for £34 for 10 years - mind you I reckon I'll be trying to get a better deal by then! A V box may be on my list...
The guy at retentions was chatty, I simply said when asked why I wanted to leave virgin, that I felt I was paying too much for too little. Was offered the above deal with no increase in broadband at first, when asked he told me a 2MB upgrade would cost an extra £2 per month (would've been happy with that though). When asked what I did, he then upgraded me for free (yay for student nurse-dom!). Really really pleased: with ntl getting any kind of discount was murder - they had a crack team of discount assassins, who combed accounts looking at discounts applied, removing them if they felt they weren't valid, or so an ntl woman told me when I rang to complain my discount had been removed last year.

I ring Virgin this afternoon after gaining courage by reading everyone’s good posts.:rotfl:
I was getting Essential TV, 4mb broadband, Phone with evening and weekends for £53.50.
Spoke to a very nice Scottish lady who searched for a better deal without really having to haggle for me and came up with the exact same deal but with Supreme TV, (what ever that is, looks like just a couple of extra movie channels), But reduced my bill to £42.50 permanently.
Not really bothered about the extra package as I mainly only watched Sky One any way but I’m delighted with the price reduction and besides I’ll down load lost, Atlantis etc and watch then that way.
Will be checking my bill when it comes as well.0 -

Essential and supreme were the package names for Telewest until the changeover - not sure why they are still in use as should be L/XL etc with Virgin Media now. Anyway, Supreme would be XL and Essential (I suspect) was M or L?
