Only joined Virgin Media for Sky? Blag some extra channels for the loss

Hi,
Last month, I upgraded to the new VIP package containing:

TV: XL
Phone: XL + Intl + Mobile discounts
BBand : XL
V+ Box
Extra Normal Box in another Room

So, pretty much top of the range, but for £85 per month !

Anybody had any luck on negotiating on the price for this package ? Ive been with Virgin (NTL) for over a year before upgrading.

ive just negiotiated the following:

XL TV
2Mb broadband
Sky sports 1+3
M Phone

for £43.50.

does this look like a good deal? basically looks like the 3 for £30 plus £13.50 for sky sports 1 + 3.

i never tried an increase on the broadband or V+, but doubt i'd have gotten it.

Previously paid £59 per month for broadband, free calls evenings and weekends and XL package. Phoned on Friday 9 March and got same broadband and XL package but upgraded phone package to free phone calls 24/7 for £37 per month permanently!!! Just told them Lost and 24 were my favourite programmes and also that I felt other people were getting better deals than me. Person I spoke to very helpful and upgraded me with no hassle at all although I spent 50 mins on the phone before I got through.

:beer: Cheers to Martin. I rang first thing this morning and got absolutely nowhere. The guy just wouldn't budge. Hung up and felt so hard done by after reading all the successes on here.

So I thought I'd give it another go. My advice is ... PERSEVERE!

I used to be on a 3 for £30 (2MB BB, TV L, phone M) but we use an overrider for landline calls, and hardly watch the telly (apart from Lost :rolleyes: ).

Anyway, first offer: either drop price to £24 or give me XL telly.

Told him we really don't watch much telly apart from Sky One so was there any way he could do something for me on the phone side of things instead? So he then offered BB M, phone XL and telly XL for £34.

I said no, I'd rather go for a price drop as we really don't watch the telly.

So he says he can do BB M, telly M and phone XL for £19.99 a month.

This does mean our tv channel selection is reduced but we honestly don't watch, so this is a HUGE saving AND all our landline calls will be free 24/7.

I am HAPPY!!!!!! :j :T :rotfl: :beer:

Hi Guys!!!

Just called Virgin Media! Finally got through after holding for about 20 mins!! Spoke to a lovely northern lass who was very helpful. I did my research and had a the net on with a sky page so I could see all the prices as I chatted to her. I told her I want to leave, missing Sky one and the Simpsons blah blah blah!! And that I could get what I get with Virgin from Sky for half the price, and I would like to cancel RIGHT NOW! WOAH WOAH sir!!! she screamed!! Let see what we can do for you!!

I was paying £56.50 for:
XL TV
Long weekend/evening phone package
2mb Broardband

After a quick chat I'm now getting all of the above plus Unlimited calls for £34.95

I agreed to that then I quickly remembered that they offer a Virgin+ box thing to record TV and stuff, so I said actually I wont take up the offer and i'm still going to go with sky as they have the Sky+ box thing. WOAH WOAH!!! she said!! I quoted they £20 one off charge and £10 per month Sky offers, The kind northern lass offered me a FREE Virgin+ box, Free instillation and a £10 per month charge! I almost bit her hand off!!!

I never really watched Sky one, and couldn't tell you where those other channels lived so I'm well up on the deal and very very happy!!!

Hi there. Can I just ask if the £10 subscription p/m is included in the £85 or is that extra? I have seen the subscription on the website, but cant figur eout if that is in with the £85 or not.

got my V+ box installed yesterday - Very impressive, much faster than old box, quite sleek looking and better picture quality. haven't tried watching any recorded programmes yet but looking forward to it! oh and BBC HD preview is amazing!

Have you spoken to Virgin about this and did they agree that even though you have a 'bundle' deal they will cancel your contract without any penalties?

I ask because I have a TV/phone/broadband deal and want to cancel the whole thing.

Watchdog on BBC1 (7/3/07) also stated thet Virgin will not hold people to their contracts if they cancel before the end of March.

I would just like to report my success !!!!

I couldn't phone up before today, as I have been watching a programme on the discovery channel for the last few weeks as Virgin already had me on the 'wrong' package but the right price and it wouldn't be included on what I would now get

I was paying £34 a month for tv, phone, including evenings, 2mb broadband which was the deal I cut LAST time it was being chucked about these forums.

Anyway, spoke to a really nice Scottish guy called Chris, buttered him up a bit, asking him how his day was etc

I got ...........

2mb broadband (don't need any faster than that)
Unlimited calls 24/7
TV basic package (don't watch anymore than that and if they get Sky One back, then so will I )

For £16 a month !!!!!! That is less that the published price of broadband !! With all my calls included


Everyone MUST try to get a better deal and quick before they negotiate to get Sky One back
