I would not provide written proof of this if I were you. There is no obligation for you to do so and perhaps they need to understand that your word is sufficient.

No, no, no to anything written down. Who knows what tomorrow brings? She may just use this as a way to stay put but not make any payment toward her keep. FWIW, I think you've been very decent about this. The childminding bit does complicate matters a little as I'm sure that replies would have been different had this not been her occupation. Do try to do the right thing for yourself primarily and others secondary.

I think most people who have replied to this thread have ignored the childminding. Nobody, other than me, has mentioned the problems for the parents and children of the childminded children that will come up now.

just as a "by the way"...

check your contract for the wedding venue, they may have an obligation to actively try and get another booking for the day...look at the contract, often thats a possibility, they cant just expect to sit back, pocket the fee and not pay for staff and food etc for the day.

Get a friend to phone and ask are they free for a booking on a couple of dates...one of them yours...see what they say....if they aren't free...they've filled the date...on the other hand they may be free....but remember to visit the venue on the original date you booked to see if there are any receptions happening...in which case...they've filled the date...

all I'm saying is...if there's a contract...there are usually stipulations on both parties....check it out.
No two ways about this one: Anything Free is not a Basic Right..it had to be earned...by someone, somewhere

It happens -It's one of the things about using a childminder rather than a nursery. Domestic events sometimes intrude and a relationship breakdown can cause the "service" to stop. Even smaller things like illness are more common -a nursery has other staff -childminders usually not. Part of the trade off for a more homey atmosphere for a child.

OP I kind of see where she's coming from-You changed your mind about getting married -so she's probably justified in feeling she can't rely on anything you say. It's a pretty natural reaction after someone you thought you knew well does something you weren't expecting.

The op's ex was/is running a business from his home. The problems incurred to customers / clients by the breakdown of the OP's relationship is moot!
    I'm not that way reclined

Jewelry? Seriously? Sheldon you are the most shallow, self-centered person I have ever met. Do you really think that another transparently-manipu... OH, IT'S A TIARA! A tiara; I have a tiara! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me!

She's now been asking me to give her some sort of written proof that I won't kick her out while she's looking for somewhere new to live as per guidance from 'Citizens advice'??? I think she's been speaking to her mum again. "Just tell him it's what citizens advice have said" Yep, definitely her mum

Don't do this under any circumstances. I doubt it'll have much legal standing anyway but it sounds like a terrible plan. Ask her to contribute or you'll have to ask her to leave sooner as you can't afford the upkeep.

Sorry to probe but I have to ask, what were the behaviour issues that caused you to call off a wedding?

This point is completely irrelevant in my opinion. It's not about the parents of the children, it's about their own situation. No way should he have to put up with anything unreasonable just for the children.
