This tells me that you can ping the internet, so are on the internet.
the fact that you can't ping the name suggests a DNS problem.
But, now are you saying that if you type the number into IE instead of the name, you still get an error? (Doing this normally overrides any DNS problem, and therefore should work).
Both came back with the same error number.0 -
is there a firewall on the desktop? if so, disable it.
Is it possible to wire the desktop up to the router, by moving it temporarily, or using one of those 10m cables?

The desktop is turning into a can of worms!
Going to see if there is a firewall on desktop and if there is I will disable it. Will be back shortly.
Desktop does not have an ethernet port and therefore cannot be connected directly to router.0 -

I am online wirelessly although it does disconnect but it is easy enough to connect again!! I have to say a huge thanks to "Help the Aged".0
