  • Looking for suggestions please.

I have bought wooden gift tags in shape of Christmas tree, which can also become tree decorations. They are currently neutral colour which will make personalising them simple. Am currently thinking of getting paint pot testers to paint them but am stuck on a colour which would suit male & female, thinking of a light grey, but not sure. Also trying to decide whether to have contrasting colours on each side. Have both gold and silver pens for personalising so any colour would have to co-ordinate with these. Will possibly varnish afterwards so they will hopefully have it for years to come.
A smile costs little but creates much :)

I saw some in Wilkinson's over the weekend. They were with all the other bits for making your own wreath. Didn't notice the price.

morning all - lovely to come on here in my tea break to read everyones news really gets me in the mood for christmas and now everyone at work thinks Im mad haha!

Ive to make a few chocolate slabs tonight for my friend to give to work colleagues tomorrow (shes moving on to a better job) so must get these right!

Cant decide between a hamper I saw on ebay (works out £7.50 with postage) which has a lid to close and is a light coloured seagrass OR the hampers they have in HB with red lining. The HB one works out cheaper but I want something that looks good too. Ive to get 3 big ones, a medium and small. Anyone got any thoughts?

Im going to sort out all the presents Ive got so far tonight (even if it means sticking it all out on the spare bed lol) and work out what else I need to get.

I cant wait to get the tree up now :D
    Are these any good? :)

The school has allowed me to rearrange my lesson observation, so now it doesn't clash with work. On the downside, it is 9am tomorrow morning lol! Best start thinking of some ideas. Time's a ticking! :o

Went to Tesco today and was really excited to find reindeer print pyjama bottoms in the boys section! BUT they are actually girls, they look like boys though (the person putting them out must have thought so too!) and DS wont care. Actually was going to buy them but OH forgot the debit card grr. What does everyone think?

I bought a really lovely painted bauble off Etsy for a friend, but am disappointed in the packaging as it really cheapens it. Does anyone know where I could find a 'bauble sized' box of some sort?

Beshki, you could have a go at making your own? http://www.homemade-gifts-made-easy.com/making-gift-boxes.html
  • Hi all! Glad to hear all of your Christmas planning is going well!

Chirpychick I’m glad you know what coffee machine he wants now and when you can get it for him. I’m sure you were disappointed you couldn’t get it for Christmas but at least you know what he’d like now and you can start planning and squirreling for it! I really like the name Levan too and don’t see why people would make fun of it. I’ve definitely heard more unusual names!

Sorry to hear about your redundancy pinknfluffy, it is very likely I am also going to be made redundant next year. I’m lucky in that I’ve got a bit of time to get used to it but it’s still not great news. I also really like working where I work and I really like the people so it’s going to be hard to leave all of that behind! As other people have said this could have happened for a reason – as you say you’re going to look into being a teaching assistant, you may be much happier doing this in the end. Good luck with it all.

I’m ploughing on with my Christmas shopping, my OH loves Cadbury’s chocolate so I was going to get him a big bar of it for one of his Christmas presents, however I was in Poundland the other day and decided to make him a Cadbury’s hamper! It’s got Cadbury’s Fingers, a pack of Freddo’s, a large bag of Buttons, a medium sized bar of Dairy Milk, a smaller bar and a half of Dairy Milk, chocolate chunk cookies, a tub of hot chocolate, a small Caramel bar and a small bag of chocolate !clairs! I think I might have got carried away! :o But he loves it and they’ve got good use by dates on so it’ll all get eaten I’m sure! I’m thinking about getting some mini rolls for another texture, I also saw Cadbury’s jaffa cakes in the 99p Store today – I could keep buying tonnes of stuff! Talking of the 99p Store, if anyone’s interested they currently have black Santa hats that say ‘bah humbug’ on them.

I also had a brainwave the other day to make my dad a ‘casserole’ hamper. My brother and I were talking about how he makes really good casseroles and stews so I thought I could get him a casserole cooking pot and fill it with a book of recipes and some sachets from the supermarket for things like lamb casserole etc. At the moment he makes them in a large saucepan, however I’m going to get a nice pot that can be used on the hob as well as in the oven and can be taken to the table. I’m quite excited about it actually! :T

I made up a food hamper and a tea cup hamper last night to take to my auntie’s in Sheffield this weekend, I took some pics so will post them on here if I can figure out how to do it! Own My Own and anyone else that has posted pics, I can’t see them on my work PC but will check them out later – from all the excitement on here it sounds like the stuff you’ve made is GOOD!

I was driving home the other day and was feeling quite stressed, so I was roaming the airwaves for some music to cheer me up and I came across the Smooth Xmas station – non stop Christmas toons! Well needless to say it cheered me up a treat! :D I’m trying not to listen to it constantly as I don’t want to take away from the December excitement but it’s difficult!

Anyway sorry for the long post, I only really get time to read the thread rather than post but I just wanted to say hi to everyone!
  • Forgot to say yesterday that Poundland has some really lovely gifts, a gorgeous set of 3 ceramic measuring cups, birdcage keyring and compact mirror set, the owl pendant that been mentioned before and all sorts of other stuff! I want it all. :D Also Card Factory really has some lovely stuff, a perfect shop for stocking fillers or advent calendar gifts! I got my friend a little extra, a seasons of friendship bookmark calendar for 39p. (or 3 for £1) They had a cool name pen in the shape of a car for £1.99 that I want to get for my little brother, didnt have DS' name but hardly anywhere ever does lol.
