Hi guys, I am just wondering if anyone knows of any "nightmare before christmas" gifts for cheap, I am trying to do a hamper of it and I am struggling as it is all so expensive!
I am still catching up on so many pages, it is moving so fast0 -

i have lots of kids presentsto wrap, but wanted to use something traditional, but something that the kids would still like...i havent looked yet.
i also need to buy some cellophane, ds is making his teachers baubles out of polystarene balls, covering them in glitter & writing their names on for xmas prezies. wondering wheres best to get a roll from?
I have a fair bit of odd bits of rolls of Xmas wrapping from previous years but I did splash out in JL on a roll of blue wrapping paper with santas on it...I thought it looked nice, I think it was 3 or 4 pounds for 10m roll? I have bought cellophane from hobbycraft before but it was a few years ago so not up to date with prices but they did have a few different styles. You could probably get it from amazon or maybe try any local art shops? Some folk on here had seen it in some of the cheap shops but I haven't seen any.
Trying to figure out what to do for my hampers for family. MIL likes golfing, history, horses and my dad goes on lots of holidays, no hobbies really. I've done movie hampers in the past and 'girls night in' ones and they went down really well...trying to think of something different for them! Might end up with book, wine and some nibbles...
Might try the chocolate slabs...sounds like a good idea...they cost a fortune in the shops! Is there a page on here that gives you proper instructions on how to do them...I'm not great at catering but would give it a bash!0 -

A little idea for your traditional but fun wrapping for kids... this year i have wrapped my eldest dd presents in brown paper, stuck a red pom-pom, drew on eyes and a smile, and used brown pipe cleaners to make antlers, hey presto rudolph wrapping! Only works with square or rectangularish pressies though! Youngest dd has got plain red matallic paper, with a thick black strip around middle, and gold buckle shape - santa !!! They look much better than I have probably described them & were really easy & fairly cost effective. Got the idea of youtube months ago, but cant find the link now :rudolf:It's not about getting what you want, It's about wanting what you get.0 -
Any idea where i can get some large bells from? ive seen them recently somewhere and for the life of me cant think where??
Asda have some for £3 ( http://i3-groceries.asda.com/g/545/036/5052449545036_21000_IDShot_2.jpeg ) and I think B&Q have some for £2 but you get 6.
Asda also have a large set of white decorative bells where you get four on some twine and they're £2. - http://i1-groceries.asda.com/g/544/763/5052449544763_21000_IDShot_2.jpegPrincess Sparklepants0 -
happysmithy wrote: »Hi guys. How long do real christmas trees last these days. For the last 10 years we have had a fake one but would like a real one this year. Also the misses likes to put it up on the 1st december just wondering will it be dead y the 25th .
Thanks
We dig our own tree up from a local 'Christmas tree farm' on the first Saturday of December and it stays up until the last day of the School holidays. We tend to get Nordman Fir trees - they apparently keep their needles longer. (Haven't had a 'normal' tree to compare it to). And it's kept in a room with an open log burner in so the air is quite dry. Do it!! You can't beat a real tree.(We got our first one for our House Rabbit's First Christmas cause we didn't want him eating a plastic one. He loves standing on his back legs to nibble the lower branches lol.)

Has anyone seen any fairly cheap, large mixing bowls? It would be great to find coloured ones, ive decided to do a baking hamper for the elves to bring, but as money is now fairly tight, i have a budget of £15 max. Contents need to be suitable for both dd (aged 5 & 12) so was tempted with chocolate making instead of cupcakes. Any ideas what i could include? The cheaper & more brightly coloured the better!) thanks in advance :rudolf:It's not about getting what you want, It's about wanting what you get.0

Mine normally lasts a good month, As long as the waters topped up everyday and the tree is away from any heating I never have a problem.
Nothing smell like Christmas than a real Christmas Tree x
Never purchased a real tree in my life but want to have one outside my front door this year. Am I correct in thinking a real tree would be fine outside for the month of December?0 -
is it ok to still stay a part of this thread even though im skint now and cant buy any more presents or anything special for Christmas? My input will be less than the past but i find all of your ideas brilliant especially OMO and i am gaining so many ideas for homemade presents next year and "pinning" them so i can start early again.Everything is always better after a cup of tea0
