'Hi guys. How long do real christmas trees last these days. For the last 10 years we have had a fake one but would like a real one this year. Also the misses likes to put it up on the 1st december just wondering will it be dead y the 25th .'
Great advice so far, keeping the tree away from radiators and keeping the water topped up is vital. It also helps to cut a sliver off the bottom of the trunk before you get it into your holder so the tree finds it easier to take up the water. Nordman firs are sold as 'drop resistant' and Norwegain spruce are the traditional ones that smell soooo Christmassy (unfortunately they do tend do drop but I think sweeping round with a dustpan from time to time is a price worth paying for the smell)! They are usually cheaper than Nordmans too.
Sorry don't know how to the 'green box' quote thing:(0 -

A real tree would be fine outside all year round
When I was a kid my mum got one very tiny (about 5 inches tall) and after a few years buried it in the garden each year and made my dad dig it up again and bring it in and it moved 3 houses with us!!!! :-O i was very young at the time I don't remember it happening - what I do remember is when I was 18 and we were moving house again was my mum telling the neighbour that the tree used to be our christmas tree but got too big to bring indoors and it was huge!!
As i say my memory isn't 100% clear lol but i know for sure this tree survived being brought in and out every year and grew VERY well :rotfl:Everything is always better after a cup of tea0 -

Yay Im sure you'll do fab! Good luck!!
In ours they were on the highest shelf in the alcohol aisle, even the sales assistant said she doesnt know why they were put so high! Heres a pic:(click to make it bigger)
Went to Tesco today and was really excited to find reindeer print pyjama bottoms in the boys section! BUT they are actually girls, they look like boys though (the person putting them out must have thought so too!) and DS wont care. Actually was going to buy them but OH forgot the debit card grr. What does everyone think?
I am going to look for those pj bottoms for DD And possibly myself tomorrow. Also hitting poundland.
In my Christmas news, I bought both my girls Christmas jumpers from primark this Saturday
Bought 3 more pressies in the Disney store this evening and my mums present in boots.
Waiting for a couple of ordered things and don't have much more to get
Oh... We do need a tree. I chucked mine last year and now it's stressing me out !0 -

Might try the chocolate slabs...sounds like a good idea...they cost a fortune in the shops! Is there a page on here that gives you proper instructions on how to do them...I'm not great at catering but would give it a bash!

Remember to use cheap chocolate.
Moulds from 99p store.pinknfluffy28 wrote: »Has anyone seen any fairly cheap, large mixing bowls? It would be great to find coloured ones, ive decided to do a baking hamper for the elves to bring, but as money is now fairly tight, i have a budget of £15 max. Contents need to be suitable for both dd (aged 5 & 12) so was tempted with chocolate making instead of cupcakes. Any ideas what i could include? The cheaper & more brightly coloured the better!) thanks in advance :rudolf:
Chocolate slab hamper would be cheaper than cupcakes.
Moulds x 4 £4
Cheap choc 100g x 12 £ 3.60 (enough for 8 slabs)
Decoration ? (but you have £7 left from budget)
White choc and candy cane
Milk choc with white stirred in and Mars Planets
White with hundreds and thousands
White choc and orange choc (using orange zest dye )
Milk choc and mini marshmallows.
Instead of the slab moulds, buy cupcake moulds. As they are smaller, they will harden quicker. This means the choc can come out of the mould quicker, and the mould can be reused quicker, so less hanging about.
The chocolate does not have to be rock hard to come out of the mould. If you are careful, you can take them out and let them harden on a tray in the fridge.0 -
Thanks.problem is ive bought it now.its for my 3 year old,she loves anything to do with drawing.
EDIT
Just had a read through some reviews and there all mixed, lots saying its fab others saying the nibs broke off the pens or its fiddly to set up.TBH what toys these days dont have mixed reviews really.we shall see on christmas day how we get on,least it didnt cost me £18 if its no good
i hope you have only good reviews - my dd loves all drawing things too so was a little dissappointed when my friend said it wasnt very good - will have to let me know how you get on with it x0 -

Press the quote button under the post. That will bring straight to the new post box.
If you want to answer more than one person, press the multi quote button (a tick will appear), then press post to bring you to the post box.
If you only want to answer part of someones quote ,just delete the bit you don't want when it is in your post box. But don't remove the the wordor their name.0 -

To whoever was asking about the Baileys teddy bear and miniature bottle set, in my local B&M store they were one one of the aisle ends, along with other alcoholic gift sets.0
