If you mean the "pay at pump" then I don't thnk they take the keyfob.
I bought a paper today and the woman in front of me got the checkout operator to scan a receipt she'd forgotten to use her CC on, and she added the points. I thought it was only the CS desk that could do this so now there is less chance of them cottoning on to you - in-store at least!:cool:0 -

I'm quite shocked people are spending their time on this activity - there's money saving and there's taking it too far (yes, in my view and I may not be in the majority sadly). Is it worth it on a morality level and also - do you not have anything better to do with your time??
It is:
THEFT
FRAUD
stupid, ignorant and selfish people ruin everythng for the rest (as usual)0 -
At the Co-op if you forget your membership card and tell the cashier they press a button on the till to "validate" the receipt, then the points can be added later by phoning in. If it's not validated then the receipt is useless to anyone else. I wonder if Tescos will adopt this method if this "Wombling" becomes an issue?0

Yes, I believe that's why Boots adopted a similar system.....but then Mr T doesn't like to spend money closing loopholes, it's not cost-effective (as their spokesperson suggested in response to the policemen story).
Really, jobytc and dervish, do you not have anything better to do with your time than criticise others?
If you don't want to womble then don't, but don't spend your time criticising others for a fairly harmless activity that will only affect their own points total if they overstep the mark. To make out that picking up litter and claiming points is 'illegal' or 'theft' is alarmist in the extreme....I haven't seen anyone actually taken to court for wombling, can you really see the CPS pursuing it?PRIVATE 'PCN'? Nor had anyone seen anyone taken to court for using vouchers to get extra Clubcard points repeatedly - which is not a great step from wombling, if you think about it. Both involve obtaining Clubcard points which you are not entitled to.0

IMHO it's a HUUUUUGE step away from wombling!!!
The policeman was putting a blank piece of paper in the coupon-slot, now that IS fraud/stealing and he deserved to be prosecuted.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Hmm, yes, there's such a big difference.
Version 1 - hand a receipt which is not yours to a member of staff, with the clear implication that it's yours, and ask the member of staff to award Clubcard points which you are not entitled to.
Version 2 - scan a coupon which entitles you to extra Clubcard points, and fail to post that coupon into the coupon slot in the self-service checkout, the end result of which is that you gain Clubcard points which you are not entitled to.
I can see why you can't see the similarity there, Coupon-mad. Obviously it's completely material that one fraud involves a member of staff and the other involves a self-service till. :rolleyes:0 -

I think it may be relevant that under the Theft Act, its not possible to deceive a machine???0 -
i can see a big difference.
tesco would not issue a thousand vouchers for extra points to any particular person. they have control over how many vouchers they issue and will be expecting to take a hit for those points.
wombling is different - it's taking points they were willing to give to the person who chucked the receipt.
last week tesco gave me a till spit for a hundred points when buying the brand of nappies i usually buy (i got the spit when buying a different brand for my sis). i can use the voucher myself, give it away, sell it on ebay or drop it in the tesco car park - tesco are willing to give away those hundred points so who cares who they give them to?
if on the other hand i was to reuse the voucher over and over again every time i buy nappies, and post blank paper or something else through the slot i think that would be fraud because i would be gaining more points than tesco were offering.'bad mothers club' member 13
