I don't like going round in circles, and I won't do any more.

You must be very blind in your inability to see the difference between things which are completely different.

A 50p off Daz coupon enables anyone holding it to get 50p off Daz. It's like a 50p coin, except that it's only eligible against Daz. Using a 50p coin you find, or a 50p off Daz coupon you find, is perfectly legal and there's nothing morally wrong about it either.

Wombling is completely different as it involves misleading, by implication or direct lying to, a Tesco member of staff that you are legitimately entitled to the Clubcard points you are claiming in respect of a purchase that you have made. Doing so with a receipt you found, which doesn't belong to you and doesn't evidence a purchase that you have personally made, is fraudulent - it's obtaining pecuniary advantage by deception.

I've had enough of this thread.

If anyone's daft enough to think wombling's OK, let them think it.

My housemate when shopping in tesco, and left her receipt in the kitchen.. she hadnt used a clubcard. I found the receipt.. and new to the scheme.. thought i'll have those points! She obviously didnt want the receipt so why not grab the points! That's not illegal is it?

Hi, I am new to all this wombling thing, I love the name by the way. What the heck are til splits and how do I know if I have ever got one? Is it part of your normal bill or is it a separate piece of paper? I think all these tips are great and I think the police acquire dna material from people's rubbish bins and state that once thrown out it is no longer that person's property. I did pick up a receipt once in my shopping cart and I had lost my Tesco card for a long time so was keeping my receipts. I took them to the desk when I found my card and said can you add these to my card please as I misplaced my card for a while. What is fraudulent about that? I never once said I spent money on all these receipts, even tho I had except for the one receipt.
I believe your morals are your morals and if you are not stealing or doing something to hurt another then there is no harm in it. Taffy

Course not, well done.....why don't you have a house meeting and offer to do all the shopping while she does another job that she doesn't mind? Tell her you like shopping! :D

Then you can get the points and you could use Daz coupons etc against the cost (MarkymarkD is wrong if he thinks a Daz coupon only works against Daz, it is accepted by most Tesco for any shopping......and no that's not illegal either - at least no deception is being carried out by the customer - as for Tesco I think they can get away with it).

P.S. to the other poster, a till-spit is an extra piece that comes out (once a fortnight) after your receipt, offering you extra points if you buy a certain product. If you don't get these, ever, the marketing demographics on your card may not have been set up (Tescos words when I phoned them about it). You just need to call the number on the back of the CC and say 'why doesn't my card get points offers at the till like my Mums/friends does, can you check I have agreed to offers on the marketing options for my card please?'. Best not to call them till-spits, that's our word on here I think, see my thread here:

I still don't understand why people are saying that clubcard points are the exclusive right of the person who made the transaction once they've discard them (whether intentionally or not)? What is anybody losing through points being collected by wombling? As Carmina Piranha said, the money that lead to the points being available has been spent; Tesco have that money in the bag. What difference does it make to them whether the dividend is cashed in by the person who actually spent the money or by somebody else? They are not losing any extra money. The person who spent the money to obtain the points isn't losing out because they either don't want them (if the receipt was discarded intentionally) or have no hope of reclaiming them subsequently (who would honestly return to a Tesco store or car park and hunt around for the receipt for the sake of a handful of clubcard points!!!?).

To agree with a few, wombling is illegal and should be the top agenda of the Labour government to stop as this is corrupting our nation. How sad Mr. T will not be making another million from points derived by this sickening and unspeakable crime of picking up tesco points other people do not want.

Can I just advise you all that if you get caught wombling you can get ur clubcard taken away and the account will be closed and the store security could decide to bar you from the store, it has happened in my local branch a couple of times
