A blank white box will open. Look at the symbols right above said white box...!

If you want to highlight a particular word just left click at the end of the word and drag your mouse to the left to highlight the word in blue. Then click on B for Bold, or whatever...

The B I U symbols are right there now below this post in the quick reply box...look down...!

Or go to the Quick Reply box underneath the posts on this screen. Find the B I U at the top right of this box. B is Bold, I is for Italics, U is for Underline. It's just like in MS Word.

OK, I swear I'm going mad - (again). When I'm not logged in, I can see all the boxes (but I obviously can't post). When I'm logged in, they disappear. (Which is why my light's been going off and on like an old school disco!) There must be something I'm doing wrong (apart from hi-jacking this thread with techie nonsense:))

But when you click 'reply' surely they appear above the white box?

No - afraid not! Have tried the "Post quick reply", "Quick Reply to this message", "Post Reply" buttons, with and without "Quote" - I just get a blank white box with no toolbar/symbols. :huh: I'll head over to the site feedback forum (or maybe techie stuff?) and see if anyone's got any idea what's going on! For years I assumed everyone else was just so much more computer savvy than me on the boards!!

Very odd... you have been here three and a half years and these symbols never appear? Do you get the smilies in the quote/reply box?

Well obviously you do cos you're using them, doh! but the other symbols are above and to the left of the smileys but still in the light blue area

I get the icons underneath the white reply box and it says "you may choose an icon ......" - is that what you mean?

Just above the white box is the small white "title" box - and the fact that I'm logged in. Nothing else! The smilies I access by clicking on the "Smilies are on" in the "posting rules" section
