Noticed today 69.99 had went somewhere from my account. Phoned the bank asking where the money had gone and they told me 1.00 had went to MYLOANS ( I recently just got a loan from Provident who said they would be taking a pound from my account so just assumed it would be from them). The lady at the bank then said she could not tell me who was taking the other 68.99 out as it had not actually been taken out yet and until it had there was nothing they could do. Pretty shoddy I think. Anyway after a google search it was clear just who was going to take my money out. I KNOW I did not fill in any form on their website. I phoned them and they've sent out a fraud form and said I should have my money refunded within 7 days. I'm not holding my breath wondering if there is anything I could do in the mean time? Is it worth phoning my bank saying I know who is going to take the money? See if there is something they can do? I'm in tears. This has left me with 20 quid to live on till next month. I do not even have that as Provident start taking 10 quid a week back on Monday.

Go to the beginning of this thread and follow the insturctions on getting a refund. I'm not convinced that your fraud angle is going to work, as it's almost certain that you've agreed to their services somewhere along the line, so it may be rejected as being fraud.

You may get lucky, but it's worth pursuing both angles and then refunding any overpayment later on.

Why didn't you tell the bank to cancel the payment? I repeat, TELL, not ask. You have control of your account, not the bank, and certainly not some tuppenceha'penny loan company.

You filled in your card details somewhere (or someone who knows them has), unless they somehow managed to correctly guess a 16 digit number, expiry date and CVV.

It might be an idea to think back about where you have entered your details as you might be getting a few more unexpected debits.

What have you done with the loan from Provident if you have only just taken it?

You can't play catch up using loans, it just makes things worse the following month.

    Further to this:

I did tell my bank to stop the payment after much arguing and demanding speaking to supervisors they did. They are going to refund anything this company try to take again.

Whatever site I entered my details on was not myloans. I'm not disputing I entered details somewhere.

As for the loan I got from Provident it was 100. 10 quid on shopping yesterday and now this 70 going out doesn't leave me with much does it?

Some of these "brokers" have various trading names and websites - so it is likely that you entered your details on one of those and then myloans took the money.

If future don't give anyone card details unless you want them to take money from your account.

They've obviously not treated it as a fraud - had they done, you would have got a full refund with no deduction. They've just given you a refund as if you had cancelled as per their T&Cs.
