Mobil 1 5w/40 they used from a drum (0w/40 is too thin for the age of the car I check that before I went). It was measured out electronically - I went back they gave me 4 litres to take home. Topped it up a litre and its fine according to the electronic dipstick.

I guess either there machine isn't calibrated for the dispersion with a high degree of accuracy or the cars electronic dipstick is inaccurate (yep measured it on a level surface). The distance from min to max is 1.2 litres.

Be so much easier if they had a normal dipstick I guess ill keep an eye on it for unusual sounds but im guessing it will be OK.

Now to drive it to the petrol station to put £6 in it ;)

Wouldn't take my ratty old clio to Kwik Fit for an oil change let alone an 05 plate Boxter. That said, I'd rather do my own oil changes because at least I know it's been done properly, using the correct oil, the correct amount of oil and the right filter.

You can slap my stupid son for that one ;)
He needs to learn how to service his own car anyway, I don't spill oil (spin on filter incident aside.. :o)

(OT but we think the sump may be cracked, waiting for him to come home to investigate further ;) )

Glad you got it sorted OP,

Amazed that there are cars without dipsticks....the mind boggles...complicating something so simple....and making it impossible to check

I left my car in for the service. Got a call asking me to replace all the tyres since they are not road legal. Also was told that coil light flashing on Dash and is again an MOT fail and will charge £35 for diagnostic and £60 per hour to sort it out.
I panicked an asked to replace the tyres but leave the diagnostic.
After the service when I got my car back home i saw that the brake bulb is blown. replaced the bulb (50 p) and Dash coil light was gone!
As per the service requirements and As per their report, they checked all the lights etc before doing the service.
Now i think that probably the tyres were all good and they just try to fleece the customers.

If you can't see when your tyres are bald or check to find a blown brake light, you deserve to be fleeced :)
