You should be using fully synthetic oil in a Boxster (unless of course your car really is a Boxter, in which case I haven't got a clue).

When I read "Boxter" I thought he meant a Peugeot Boxer. Probably because my brain can't comprehend the idea of anyone taking a Porsche to Kwik-Fit!

Also since when is a car from 2005 "old"?

^^ It's that time of year when lots of clueless people go out and buy soft top "sports-cars".

    I would guess troll.

Why would anyone let a mechanic carry on with what they were doing when they state the don't know how much oil to fill it with?

Because not everyone who buys these cars is an "enthusiast"...... Some people buy cars purely because of the badge or the colour or whatever. These people generally know nothing about cars and leave the dirty stuff to "the experts".

Because unlike you and I Steve, they know nothing about cars and out their trust in others.
I do however find it strange that someone with a Porsche Boxster entrusts KwikFit with any work at all.

Are you insinuating that they wouldve taken the car for a quick spin? From what I can gather of reading of the OP that they were at the garage and with the so called mechanic at all times.

Rather odd to let a fast fit joint loose on such a specialist car.

If i was the OP i'd keep no record of its visit to this place and get the car reserviced at a competent specialist indy or a main dealer, and put this unfortunate episode down to experience, i hope to goodness they haven't stamped the service record....when the equivalent of poundland filters are found on the car it may well raise eyebrows at a proper workshops anyway.

The mere sight of fast fit on the service record could render the car banger material should he wish to sell at some point.

When i sold one of my MB's the sale was linked to on one of the MB forums as it was rare for its mileage and condition, i'd mentioned in the ad who my indy was and the general consensus of the discussion (i didn't take part in) was that the car would be first rate seeing Mr X was looking after it.

This could happen to you OP but not in a flattering way, such specialists cars raise interest from enthusiasts when they come up for sale if anything is unusual, have you any idea the scorn that the owners forum would pour on the info that some fast fit joint were allowed near it, might well destroy your cars value.
