Reckon he spent all the money on the car and now lives in relative poverty
He looked over at me very sheepishly as my pump got to £70 and kept on going.:rotfl:
OP are you sure they under filled? Did your gauge say it was under filled?
It's just as likely they over-filled or used the wrong grade of engine oil.
More likely his was full, and he just likes to keep it topped up, and was a bit embarrassed for you having to wait for payday to be able to afford to fill up.Or do you really think he runs an XKR on empty, and stops every 20 miles?0 -

Which is exactly the kind of stuff you WILL NOT find at Kwik Fit. I actually don't even want to contemplate what oil they did put in.
You normally bang the drum for Kwik fit, and often claim to use them for your car when this subject comes up.0 -

I was thinking it was a car having a garage service or it was for sale and had been for a test drive or being driven between trade places or something like that0 -
The guy said he wasn't sure how much to put in and asked you how to check - I think you need to take some responsibility here0

I see it all the time, the more expensive the car, the less fuel they put in.
Maybe they like going to petrol stations to show off the car??“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Maybe they can just afford not to let it run to empty all the time? No one here has problems filling the jags, porsches, mercs, etc. And as to showing them off at petrol stations, I doubt they worry about the clientele in the old sales reps cars next to them.0 -

What a life you must have if you take notice of how much fuel other people put in !!!0 -

OP - there's something wrong here. Whether you have any recourse or not depends on what has ACTUALLY happened, and I can't work that out yet.
You've been charged for 7.8L of 'Mobil 1' (that's a brand, not a type of oil BTW, plenty of 'Mobil 1' oil could wreck your engine). You've driven home, then your car's computer has told you the engine's empty. Where'd the oil go?! Do you have to calibrate the electronic dipstick or something?0 -

My thought entirely. Enough to get it to a garage for some work but not leaving enough for them to play in it or as you say, selling it and just wanted enough to get to destination. No point filling a car if you aren't going to use it. May as well hand the buyer another £70
5t.What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0
