I LOVE Geardie Shore :D. One of the girls, (not naming any names but her name begins with V), is my cousin's cousin on the otherside of her family (if you can follow that!!) so I started watching it because of her, but them got totally hooked. I'm gutted the new series has ended :(.

Me too! If you speak to her can you tell her to stop using that stupid baby voice whenever she talks to that idiot she's going out with. It drives me mad and I want to reach through the screen and smack her round the chops. What are they all going to think in 10years time? I'd have hated my early twenties shenanigans to be recorded for posterity, I'm so glad video phones didn't exist back then. I'd never be able to leave the house for shame :o.

Well done on the Zumba, its hard work. I got it for the Wii and imagine I'd become a graceful dancer, instead I just make a total @rse of myself and slide all over the living room floor, tis lots of fun though!

 about ESA, I think making things so complicated that no one knows what to do is part of the benefit bill reduction strategy.

Fingers crossed on the job front.

That sounds familiar :D. I used to go to zumba before DH's accident but haven't been since. What tiny bit of coordination I used to have has quite obviously emigrated in the last 14 months!!

Couldn't agree more. The whole process just seems so wasteful though :(.

  • Feeling quite down today and finding it hard to shake it off :(.

Had a bad night with DS2 last night and was awake for 3 hours in the night. Don't know why, he just couldn't settle. DH slept through it which was unusual and then we all slept in til 8.30am which again is very unusual as DH wakes very early (5am) normally. By 11am DH was practically comatose on the sofa so I sent him for a lie down. He then slept for 3 hours and when he woke up he was a bit slow and not quite 'switched on'. He was moving his mouth like he was chewing something and even after he confirmed he wasn't chewing anything he still kept moving his mouth like that. He eventually came round and after a couple of hours seemed completely normal again, though still very tired. I'm now thinking they will find something in the MRI when it happens :(:(:(.

In other, equally miserable news, I got the letter about the possibility of a new provider taking over playgroup. They are holding a meeting for prospective parents on tuesday which I will attend, but there was also a telephone number to call for further info. I rang the woman and explained that I was a parent but also a previous employee and she got all excited and asked me if I was qualified to which I had to reply no. Top and bottom of it is that she wants qualified staff so looks like it's a no go there. I knew that was likely but I'd been hanging on to the faint glimmer of hope and I feel quite depressed that yet again things haven't gone my way. I honestly don't know what to do next for the best in terms of work and money etc.

Hi determined new ms smiley-greet025.gif, what a lovely message thank you! You are most welcome to stick around and I love the idea of 'upcoming success' :D.

That's cheered me up. As has my new 3rd star smiley-dance010.gif.

    Ok so positive thinking.....

I'm not unemployable. I have a wide range of skills and usually do well in both gaining a job and keeping it (not being bigheaded here I promise). I will find it more difficult to get something with the right sort of hours but it can be done I'm sure. Meanwhile DH may get more benefit and I may be able to pick up more hours at job 2 in the run up to christmas etc. I got through much worse a year ago and at that point our outgoings were so much higher than they are now and there was NOTHING coming in. I need to go back to basics and reduce food bills further/sell stuff/spend more time comping and surveying etc, all of which I have still been doing but with less gusto than at the beginning. We will be ok.

And I've been miserable all day but haven't reached for the chocolate etc. Day 3 of being extra good completed smiley-eatdrink049.gif.

Oh course you do, you sound extremely focused and determined, definitely have loads of skills! In the short time, can you go round the boot fairs at the weekend and see if there are any items you know would sell? A friend of mine totally survived this way when her and her husband were out of work, see you if you can pick up any little jobs - am thinking of cleaning or bar work while you look for something else?

There you go again! I was totally inspired by your diet bu5 after 2 days fell off the wagon :o.

  • That's a good idea re the bootfairs. I need to do one myself anyway as I have a pile of stuff that I need rid of, and it's probably a good idea to scope some first. Hopefully I'll find some money makers!

My main problem with finding another part-time job in a bar for example, is that a lot of the shifts on offer at job 2 are already friday and saturday nights, but with the benefit of finishing at 8 or 9pm which isn't too late for MIL to stay at mine with DH and the boys. I have done bar work before though and I'm not opposed to it, I'd just prefer daytime work if available. My main career has been in banking (Team Management and staff training) and a shorter stint in the civil service. While I was a student I did waitressing, bar work and retail customer services so I think I can tailor a CV to quite a few different things. I'm not fussy, I'll try anything that puts food on the table :D. That said, I know I could probably find a fulltime job linked to my previous career which would earn more but I'm reluctant to do while DH is still poorly. We'd lose the income related part of his benefit, the council tax help, free school meals, healthy start vouchers etc etc and I'd be left in a stressful job, worrying about DH and not being able to attend all his appointments etc.

Sorry for the ramblings, just trying to think things through Xx

Hello PLMBL, :) I'm a newby on this board, and, as I expect most of us do, I've been reading a few of the diaries. Your user name and early posts here touched my heart; have a dodgy hug :grouphug: Must admit I haven't read right through [yet] but skipped to recent posts. Two of 'em jumped out:

    Posted 14.8:
Today DH had a meeting with the head injury doc as it's been 8 weeks since he was put on trazadone. They are pleased with how he's reacted to it, but are concerned with the recent confused episodes he's had. They are sending him for an MRI incase it's epilepsy related, which is quite common after head injuries apparently. DH feels  about that though.

I would not dream of offering you medical advice even if it were permitted; but if I was in your position, I'd be keeping a diary of these episodes, and after the latest one, I'd be on the 'phone to the consultant's secretary or clinic nurse asap to let them know - am assuming it was 'different' in some way to what has happened before as you described it so eloquently? I'd want that MRI appointment through as a matter of urgency, rather than "when it happens".. The 'chewing' is a feature the doctors are likely to be interested in (presumably your DH was unaware he was doing it until you questioned him?).

Please don't be alarmed, but I guess you must know how the NHS works for 'long-termers' by now - if you don't tell the consultant when something changes between appointments, the patient just waits in the usual queue for revision. If they are stable or improving; fine. But when new or different symptoms appear, the patients who have the best chance of a good outcome are the ones with a close family member who ensures that the doctors are aware of any changes promptly, and then follows up, attends appointments with the patient, notes daily effect of medication, etc.

Apologies if you are already on top of it - don't want to upset or offend you - but if you were wondering whether to make that 'phone-call; please do.

Hi *Robin* and welcome. Thank you for the hug, I've left some on your diary for you too!! It's people like yourself, 3Dogs and Kavics that make me feel bad for whinging. You all have real problems and I know I'm very lucky to still have DH. I very much appreciate your support and please know you have mine in return.

No offence taken whatsoever. I understand what you are saying and yes I need to chase things up. When we saw the consultant on Tuesday he said that we'd have an appointment for the MRI within 4 weeks, but perhaps after yesterday we should push to have it quicker. All DH's episodes are after sleep and I can't confirm if he had any type of fit in his sleep as I was with the children downstairs while he napped upstairs. I hadn't noticed the chewing before so I assume it hadn't happened before, however I hadn't been looking for those types of signs before either so it's a possibility.

He seems better today again phew!

    Xx
