I found a four-leaf clover on Friday, but I didn't win the Lottery on Saturday!

I didn't even get 1 number on sat prowla! Are 4 leaf clovers like pennies in that you are supposed to give them away when you find them for them to be lucky? That's probably where my problem lies, all pennies I find go straight into my penny jar for debt busting :D.

  • Really quick post as we are on the way out, but we just got a phone call saying DH needs to go for his medical with ATOS tomorrow :(. Hopefully this will be a positive thing and they will still find him unfit for work, but must admit to being nervous after the woman in the work programme saying everyone is failing their medicals at the moment. We can only tell the truth and then appeal if they don't agree. Feel sick at the thought though smiley-sick007.gif. I'm battle weary Xx

Met MIL at the cafe with a softplay today. She bought coffee and scones for herself and my DH, and I bought mine and the boys so I spent £5.90. I still havent decided if it's kind or odd to buy just one other person in a party of 5!

Afterwards we went to Mr A's and then home for the boys to play in the garden in the sunshine (until the thunderstorms hit). Is anyone else getting worried about this freaky weather??

Off to make tea, yummy curry tonight

It seems a bit odd to me to buy food for just one other person out of a group.

And I agree the weather is becoming quite worrying, for us in more ways than one. DH wasn't able to work again today because of the weather and tomorrow doesn't seem as though it is going to be any better.

I was thinking about how to save more and remembered that some of us worked on recipes for a website designed to feed 4 on 100 a week. I tested recipes and used it the Winter DH was very depressed and unable to work.

This is it, the work of lots of us but the brainchild of weezl.

I made the butternut squash risotto for my family tonight.

Sorry to hear about your DH's work. Before his accident my DH was a roofer so the weather had a lot of bearing on him too. He was an employee so you'd think it wouldn't have affected his wages either way but sadly as a small company in trouble that wasn't always the case. I sympathise!

  • DH had his DWP assessment medical today and I think it went ok. We were in there about 45 mins and she asked lots of questions, a lot of which were directed at me rather than DH! On the way out she said "A decision will be made on your case within 2 weeks, but we do know that head injuries take a long time to recover". I'm hoping that this means a positive result will be produced and it won't have to go to appeal. And we got £5 mileage paid for going!

I got weighed tonight for the first time in a couple of weeks and I gained 3lbs :(. These were completely deserved but it now means I've gained back nearly all that I lost when I did the slimmathon and that's just not acceptable. We are off to Edinburgh tomorrow and I'm going to enjoy my time away, but I promise to really try hard to get back on the diet waggon when I get home. Now it's in black and white I have to do it!!!

Talking of black and white we are seeing the pandas at the zoo tomorrow :D.

  • Hi all smiley-greet013.gif I'm back from Edinburgh smiley-flag006.gif.

We had a fantastic time. The weather was great, the zoo was fab and we are all officially in love with the pandas!! On the downside, I hadn't realised that when I made the hotel booking they only took the card details for security and not payment, so that was £99 to pay that I hadn't budgeted for as I thought it had already left the account. Can't believe I missed that one :(. However, due to lots of free activities we still came in under budget :j. On the way home we stopped off at Berwick and I showed the boys where I grew up (I moved to Newcastle when I was 12) which was lovely. Very nostalgic!

However, it's not all good news smiley-sad045.gif.

I got home to a letter of redundancy from job 1!! They've closed the playgroup and won't be reopening in September . I must admit this isn't totally out of the blue but it's still really upsetting as I was hoping it would be avoided. Short version of a long story is that they can no longer operate as a charity and it isn't a viable business so they can't continue. I get no redundancy pay and I'm yet to hear if I will get any pay in lieu of hols etc. Sick as a chip!

Off to catch up on everyone elses diaries. Xx

Aw carp really sorry you lost your job. How come though you don't get redundancy, did you not work there long enough? What a shame they couldn't keep going.

Will there be opportunities in other nursery type situations in your area?

good luck with deciding what to do

I want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?
  • Thanks chev.

I never got a contract so I guess they get out out of paying me redundancy that way :(.

I'm not actually a qualified playgroup assistant so not sure that avenue will be open to me elsewhere, but I will look into it. My main career before I had children was in banking but I'm happy to do whatever fits in with DH and the kids and brings in the money. Unfortunately I don't have any shifts at job 2 either for the next 2 weeks. Blasted students got in there first :rotfl:. I have to laugh or I'll cry!

I will ring the DWP and advise them that I am no longer working on Monday and see if it has any affect on DH's benefit. I need to look into carers allowance again too.

    Xx
