Strange Request for a wedding?

Some of them them had been travelling for 2 hours over lunchtime and we thought they might be hungry by the time they arrived as our wedding was at 2.30. Her exact words to me when we were chatting to guests later was 'I am capable of feeding my child there was no need for a snack box'. Needless to say that particular colleague or his wife have been invited to nothing else!
I think that was very thoughtful, and the guest was very rude and ungrateful.0 -
I don't know, I could happily go in for the 'no children' rule. A nice day spent in adult only company with no risk of kids talking through the service or babies screaming and parents having to get up to take them out...sounds good to me
I've been to a few. If I can get a sitter then I do. It's just the suggestions that it's for my/parents benefit/own good that they've chosen to have a child-free do that annoys me.0 -

Can understand that. What rot! I call a spade a spade and if I don't want children at my wedding I wouldn't have the front to pretend it's for anyone else.0 -
You would tell your own family to 'sod off' if they didn't comply to your demands?
Wow
I mean I can understand asking nicely that people don't wear a certain thing... but to turf them out is something else.
The sheer self importance and selfishness of some brides to be never ceases to amaze me.
My family wouldn't be a problem as they know the traditions of all the weddings we've ever had - it'd be friends and the random work people etc. who wouldn't.
At the end of the day I'm the one getting married, I'll have paid £XXXXX amount for the priviledge, alright I probably wouldn't actually be so forceful with my request (I'm sure I could word it better) but if someone did ignore it I would be very upset. I think there's nothing more rude than being asked to do something and deliberately doing the opposite... now that's selfish.
I'm not demanding that anyone changes their body for me, I'm asking that when they choose their outfit they pick something colourful and appropriate for a wedding. It's not that strange a request, surely?
ETA as I didn't see the other post - obviously, mens suits wouldn't be a problem, mind you OHs dad did turn up to his grandsons christening in a pure white suit with white shoes and tie etc.; that would be a problem XD I'd probably write on it 'We request that you come as colourfully dressed as possible in order to make it a true celebration'. And you'd be surprised at what people think is wedding appropriate; helping my sister plan hers means that I've had to look at a lot of wedding forums and dress related topics - there's a vast amount of people with pure white dresses adamant that it's ok to wear  My idea of hell.
Not sure why it's ok to state no children but it's not ok to state that two colours shouldn't be worn?£2023 in 2023 challenge - £17.79 January0
