Strange Request for a wedding?

When my son gets married there isn't going to be any kids at the actual ceremony, not because he doesn't want them there but because it's in a registry office with limited numbers and they'd be bored. But all the kids are coming to the reception afterwards, he's even hiring an ice-cream van for them! Although I suspect the adults will enjoy that more.Dum Spiro Spero0

Me too! Quite an attractive man! :rotfl:February wins: Theatre tickets0 -
I've seen a lovely ice cream van at a wedding show in Manchester we're definately hiring that. Although we have no kids of our own and not particularly big fans of kids we have no choice but to invite them as there are quite a few in the family. I don't think I'll be making any crazy requests though.

Bloody hate silly facsinators. I do like a proper tasteful hat, like a cute little pillbox. I asked that people wearing hats took them off during the ceremony. You always get some !!!! in a hat who obscures the view.
I had a see through white dress lady as well, my cousin's gf. Could see her thong through it. I wasn't bothered though, you'd be a pretty shoddy bride to be upstaged by a bit of dental floss on a flibbertygibbet.
The view blocking is why we had no hats at our wedding. The ex's Aunt and my late Aunt seem to wedding shop by going into a a hat store and buying the biggest hat they can find then finding an outfit to match. Neither have/had the manners to ever remove them so as MIL and my Nana both hated hats we asked for no hats.
I don't mind people requesting no children at weddings. It's expensive and there are a lot of people who don't seem to think to remove their child if they are causing a problem. However I hate, hate, hate getting an invitation telling me I'm invited, but they've not invited children because they want me to let my hair down and have fun. Don't invite them = fine. Pretending that is for my benefit = annoying!0 -

Ha this thread is hilarious!
Our best man bearded/ stubbly, it kind if looks like he has forgotten to shave for a week or two. He did actually offer (his GF pointed out he wasn't even clean shaven for his Nan's funeral) to shave, but he has always had stubble! He won't be him in the pics if I said ok. I just laughed and said as long as it doesn't look like a birds nest!
No hats is one thing, askin people to change their appearance and body is another.:T0 -

It was probably the best money we spent, the kids had a great time, with proper activities specifically for them, then when the "disco" started they just ran around in there (having had something different to do beforehand, this managed to keep them happy for hours!). It certainly wasn't to keep children seen and not heard - I specifically wanted them there as the children of our friends/family are important to me as the adults
- just didn't want them to get bored.
This is a great idea. I went to a cousin's wedding when my kids were under 5 and she'd hired a mobile creche which was open from after the ceremony so yes - the hanging around bits! I think rather than spend money on all the extras that seem so essential nowadays this is a much better way to ensure a happy day if the budget is available.
(absolutely flabbergasted about the stories of banning people from photos because of weight/hair colour etc. Brides - the best wedding photos are where everyone is genuinely smiling because they're having a good time, not the ones where it's like a cast photo of TOWIE)0 -

I'm always shocked when I read threads like this when it makes me realise just how self centred and horrible some people can be, especially when it comes to brides and their weddings.
If someone asked me to change something drastic about myself to suit their wedding then I'm afraid I would be telling them to have a nice day as I won't be there.Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. :rotfl: I think I'll be ok because although the inlaws and all of their family read the DM, my husband and his sister think it's only fit for lighting fires
I can't believe what she said about your daughter. The BMI thing is bonkers, but to be so nasty towards your daughter, who should have been treated as an addition to her family, that's just awful52% tight0
