I had no children at my wedding. I wanted the mummies to enjoy the wedding as much as the daddies :)

So you decided for them how best to enjoy it?

Sure it wasn't to save the cost of the kids meals? ;)

Don't they both look after their children at weddings?

I find the mindset of some people on this thread bizarre!

I personally can easily have a good time at a wedding with my husband and my son without my son interrupting the proceedings or being the cause of any problems.

And SHOCK, HORROR neither my husband or I drink. My husband is allergic to alcohol (yes, seriously, he is Japanese and its actually quite common in Asia) and I simply don't like the taste alcohol or see the point in getting intoxicated.

We have absolutely no issues or problems with people that do and always have a good laugh at social functions catching up with relatives and family friends. Having a young son we obviously leave earlier than most however we have a good time regardless.

I've noticed totally different attitudes and mindsets with regards to children in my experience of living in both Japan and Spain. I really don't understand typically "British" mentality with regards to those things....

    hi all,

Finally got to the bottom of all this!!

Wedding took place on Saturday so managed to get a bit more info. The beards comment WAS aimed at the groom's dad who has a rather unruly beard. however, this beard was very much present on Saturday!

Equally, a lot of people grew beards especially for the wedding after the comment on the invitations! The bride and groom had a laugh about though and the wedding was nowhere near as pretentious as I thought it would be!!

    xx
  • *chuckle* Really glad it turned out well and that a good time was had by all!

(did any of the women have stick-on beards? :D )

    What?!

That's disgusting. What kind of son would have give the go ahead for that on an invitation because of his own Father?

I'm shocked. And feeling very sad for the groom's Father.

So what if he's got an unruly beard, did they think he would spoil the wedding photos?

Did they think he would shave off his beard just for their wedding?

    Vile, absolutely vile.

Totally agree - you would have thought a quiet diplomatic word would have been sufficient.
