sainsburys won't refund for bad product

pls help: went to sainsburys yesterday and the fridge seemed not to be working.

As sainsburys staff said they were fine and had just been checked i got 6 pints of milk. other shoppers were also getting the milk.

got home, used some milk and my four children, myself and husband vomited. we have not slept all night.

went to sainsburys and they say "no. we will not refund you for your remining milks." they even say that their fridges are computer-linked so never ever go wrong.

the food poisoning was their fault as i only buy at sainsburys (no longer though) and we only ate sainsburys food yesterday

how can i get my money back. for remaingin milks? they have stunned me.

  • I feel sorry for you but how do you know it was the milk and not something else you have eaten? Or you could have picked up a bug and it could be nothing to do with anything you have consumed.

Surely if you got sour milk you would notice the smell I would have thought it take more than a day for milk to go sour and make you ill. If it had been more than a day or too surely they would have loads of complaints. Are you sure its the milk that made you ill it may have been something else

Not convinced it's the milk.It takes longer to go sour and you'd notice the smell (and possibly little 'flakes' or lumps).I've drank milk (albeit in tea) all day before without the knowledge that it hadn't been refridgerated for at least 24 hours with no problems

On top of the fact you would've almost certainly noticed bad milk before you all had chance to drink it, there is the issue that food poisoning takes time to set in, it does not happen instantly.

Something just doesn't add up with your story.

Having said all this, I'm a bit surprised they won't refund the milk if that's all you're after. They must think you're trying it on, because they would refund that under normal circumstances.

How did the fridge seem to to be working?

Knowing this, did you not smell the milk before drinking it?

Depends really how much effort your willing to put in to reclaiming about 80p really.

I doubt its the milk as others said soon as you open the top you get a nasty whiff its must be something else, Sainsburys arent at fault here based on your post

You can get a stomach bug from 5 million places in a normal day.

If the milk had been off you would have automatically smelled it when you opened the top or you would have seen globules on the top of the tea/coffee.

You really need to look elsewhere. Doubt you'd actually be able to find the solution though.

What made you think the fridges werent working.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
