Ah yes, they have done alot of filming around here, was it Raglan castle where they were filming recently? Might have been another program, can't remember now

They've filmed at Beaufort Arms Court, Church Street, St Mary's Street, Wyastone Leas, White Swan Court, and a few other places around the area. Really looking forward to the visit!

Edit: interesting to see the climb down on your e-mail after I made my post.....

What the hell are you on about?

Took me a while, but he meant that he read the rest of the thread after he posted, not that the situation diffused after he posted :)

  • Thank you Halibut2209 for clearing that up for me
eschaton, I think you will find I came here for advice, maybe my first post was unclear as to what I was asking, but I was unclear on the correct procedure on this type of thing
If I wanted compensation I could have told them to shove their giftcard and demanded to make a formal complaint, I did none of this.
I was given some really good advice which I drew from and found peace with, why is that a climb down?
Due to some well balanced members I was able to achieve what was troubling me.
  • Halibut2209, Yes I remember when they were filming Beaufort Arms Court, Church Street and St Mary's Street, my eldest daughter went to see it and pinched some fake snow off the set.

Jesus suffering, I replied and then lost broadband connection before the page refreshed.....

I'm not typing it all again but it was along the lines of the thread started with your SIL leading you down a money grabbing path, in no way am I saying it was your initial thoughts.

It ended with your e-mail which I commend you on for listening to others and thinking for yourself.

If you get another voucher from Head Office then good luck to you as it was a nice e-mail.

Ah yes, they filmed the Charles Dickens episode there as well as one of the Christmas Specials (which was also filmed in Gloucester!)

    OP

I would of probably considered giving the £5 gift card back, insisting that the Accident Book was completed with a request to see there Public Liabilty Certificate to view informing the insurance company of the incident.

Then if relevant, report the incident to the local Trading Standards/HSE Executive.

I have no doubt that some member of the staff would of noticed this metal, maybe the shelf stacker/cleaner. Unfortunately we live in a world where people seem to simply ignore things and carry on.

The £5 gift card is a joke. You rarely find an item under £5 in Toys 'R' Us these days.

£5 these days just about buys a McD's Happy Meal. :(
  • I have read this thread with great interest and feel it is such a refreshing change in today's compensation culture that you have taken such a fair stance.
As an ex manager with this chain it would appear that the staff have followed all procedures to the letter although the offer of the gift card was never recommended as this could be deemed to be an admission of liability rather than the good will gesture I assume it was.
Toys R Us, in my view, do take all such incidents very seriously, the company health and safety officer and customer services will already have been made aware.
You e-mail sets exactly the right tone but you should be aware that the contact us button on the web site relates only to internet sales queries. It will eventually be passed on to customer services at Maidenhead HQ but the response time may be slower than you would expect. It may be better to speak to Jacqui Ingram @customer services direct if you want a swifter response.

wow what a turn around thread this has turn out to be
IMHO OP was all for compo but now has calmed and probably realised how silly she would have looked going down that route

So you'd contact the insurance company before HSE & TS? Says it all really.
