Hope your daughter is better, I read your comment about the caffiene addicts and expensive clothes and nowhere for 10yr olds and thought was it where I lived a place with a reputaition for being posh
We go to Swindon Toys R Us as it is bigger

Had the pleasure of visiting Skenfrith recently. A gorgeous village in Monmouthshire. But heading to Monmouth soon in my quest to visit all the Doctor Who filming locations! One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0

Ah yes, they have done alot of filming around here, was it Raglan castle where they were filming recently? Might have been another program, can't remember now0

I had to give up reading the thread as so many replies were spot on.
Your 10 year old daughter got a small graze with minor bruising - you turned it into an angry red gash with bruising and your SIL was suggesting you go and see a solicitor (obviously to get some free money).
Your SIL is what is wrong with this country and you coming on here asking what others would do shows that you were starting to wonder if her idea was any good.
I am happy to see the pictures of the injuries as that tells me that the damage to the shelving was probably minor as well. The store team did a good job and then you are out to see what mileage is in taking it further, aided by your SIL.
Working in retail and knowing how shelves are made means I can imagine how minor this damaged shelf was. Was your daughter looking where she was going when she walked into the shelf?
There have been two 'accidents' at work in the past few months recently - both customers have said they are going to sue. I can't put the details on a public forum but both are 100% customer blame both backed up with CCTV.
It used to be the blame culture, now it's claim culture.
Edit: interesting to see the climb down on your e-mail after I made my post.....0 -
I was asking for opinions, due to the fact I haven't been in this situations before and I had family members questioning me on they way it was dealt with.
I feel like I am having to repeat myself, so I suggest you read back through the thread.
Was my daughter looking where she was going? she was holding my partners hand, they went around the corner where the shelf was on a 45% angle to the opposite shelf.
Does my email look as if I was trying to get mileage out of it?
Staff were great, but how would I feel if I heard of another incident there involving a smaller child falling onto the metal rod? yes it was a metal rod sticking out of a damaged metal grid.
The damaged shelf was hardly minor, there was a metal rod sticking out (actually 2, one either side, but the one she caught her leg on was protruding more), sure you would describe it as minor if this had caused an eye injury?
I have 3 daughters aged from 10 -18, I have seen many falls, pratting about and the results, my reaction "they have to learn the hard way" This was no such incident
After 18 years of child raising I would know if this was my daughters fault, which it was not.0 -

As already mentioned, I stopped reading before your e-mail, the initial posts set the tone.
I had to assume the damage was made out to be worse than it was similar to the 'injuries'.
Happy to see your eventual e-mail and that you weren't easily lead down the route your SIL was looking down with £ signs in her eyes.0 -
