I mentioned the muscle wasting due to arcon5 saying 'Is that all', sorry but walk in my shoes before saying 'Is that all'

In fairness to acorn5 (and I don't mean to cause offence) but that was my reaction as well.
A letter to head office seems to be fair and just.
I must add, I was quite taken aback from the care and kindness of the staff in toysrus. I would not knock the staff for the way the handled it.

Could I ask that you mention the attitude of the staff? You were pleasantly surprised at the response so telling HO this
I am a playworker and personally, I do check all equipment before we open.

Sorry but I think you're comparing apples and oranges ...

Sorry arcon5, I find part of your comment offensive.
Nervous staff, where is that leading? It was leading nowhere, just thought it strange, had they not dealt with anything like this before? meaning normally instore safety was good.
"Is that all' My daughter is 10, has a muscle wasting illness and from such a quiet little thing to be sobbing, sweating and also overwhelmed by the attention, yes, that is all!!!!!!
I was asking for opinions balancing out common sense and instore safety.
Would you like to tell me where I am over reacting? If I were over reacting would I be asking on here for balanced opinions?
Come off it. Arcon makes fair comment. You are asking for opinions. Nobody gets taken seriously if they ask only for opinions which they find acceptable

i cant see what more toys r us could do
    staff attentive
    problem fixed
    compensation given
    accident book dutifully filled in
    you OP happy

its just the grabbing SIL thats the problem here
  • So I take it some members just come on here to be mean to people asking for advice
I wanted to know if there were a happy medium, not had an incident like this before
I am at one end of the spectrum, my SIL at the other end, so asking for a balanced opinion doesn't seem unreasonable.
Now, as much as some of you may want to get my back up with comments that so obviously imply you haven't read alot of my comments, it will not happen, as I am more interested in educated points of view which are balanced, so again I would like to say thank you to the lovely members on here that have given me valued advice and pointed my in the right direction
And yes, I do know if the injury was just a small graze there would be no bruising the next day, but if it took force then it would create a bruise. Not all grazes create bruises.
A toy store and play club I see quite similar personally, thats just my opinion.
I will indeed be praising the staff for the way they dealt with it
I am quite surprised that anyone on this thread could think I am here to find out how to claim thousands, was that my original question? I think not
No Dr or hospital visits, none of that, no claim going to be made. I think it is just ridiculous personally
I also think it ridiculous that some members decide to jump on me and attack me.
I really do appreciate the rest of the comments though

With all due respect nobody has jumped on you or attacked you, you asked for opinions and people have given them, most posters have agreed that a comp claim would be ridiculous but a letter to HO would be fair.

As for bruises only showing up from force, that's just not true. I have four step children and all of them have at least one bruise at any given time and most of the time they don't even know how/where they got them.

Right now I have a bruise on my thigh and it is quite big and nasty but I can't for the life of me work out how I got it, I don't recall hurting myself in that area in any way but I must've done something. it doesn't always take force to cause a bruise.

I really don't think anyone meant it like that. There are a few trouble makers on the forum but from what I can remember, none of them have posted on your thread.

When you were asking for opinions, personally I thought you were asking how we personally would react to this situation. If that is true, arcon saying "is that all" is probably the reaction of a large number of people and is a valid opinion. Its just a difference of opinion.

Personally I cant even remember how many times I scraped myself as a child. I hated doing it at school as they would "wash" it with antiseptic and a nail brush to scrub it clean. Nana used to put germaline on it. Mum would wash it out with soap/water, put a plaster over it for a day or two then take the plaster off to let it scab over so it could heal. Everyone just has different ways of dealing with things. Like my nana who barely bothered with cuts/scrapes/bruises.....she would never let us drink out of a can without using a straw! Even when I was 25....she still made me use a straw in case I cut my lip :rotfl:
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride
  • I have been a mum for the past 18 years, and yes indeed, bruises do need force to create them
To injure the underlying soft tissue without breaking the skin, as by a blow
I cannot believe I am even getting into this.
Personally I feel jumped on, so next time I need advice, I shall ask on a more friendly and informative forum.
Shame that a few members spoil it for alot of decent members.
    Thank you and goodbye

I fail to see how your DD having a muscle wasting illness has anything to do with this.

Yes, we can walk in your shoes all we like - but it still doesn't make it even remotely relevant. Did the injury damage a muscle? No.
  • Lol, no honestly, I am pretty easy going, my daughter was over the moon with her gift card, I just wanted her to be ok and crack on with her shopping.
My opinion is not well balanced, I am reserved, I say sorry when something isn't even my fault.
    But I am open minded.
As previously mentioned, the claim culture has alot to answer for, why should someone lose their job over a broken piece of shelving, when at the end of the day they may just be a scape goat
I did indeed want opinions but things like:

    is that all

This is what normally happens with cuts and bruises. They come up worse a day or so later. Im not even a parent and I know this - why dont you?

But you get on to your solicitor my dear, you deserve a hundred million pounds in compensation.

Angry red, is that supposed to make a small bruise sound worse than it is

You say one of the staff was shaking.. where is this leading?

    I don't percieve as opinions
But, please be assured I will not remove any posts.
Lots of very interesting facts on here.
I am pleased to have learnt quite a bit from this thread. Just feel sad that I have been misjudged. but hey ho, shall crack on with eating some of my daughters easter eggs.
  • My comment about my daughters illness was in relation to the 'is that all' comment.
In her daily life, I think she would be pleased if catching her leg on a metal strip was all.
Maybe I took the comment too personally, and no she did not damage a muscle.
