Cyclists not using hand signals
Comments
-
At least, no more so than to ride a bicycle on the public highway.....or walk....of ride a horse...or herd a flock of sheep....?
The problem is.....neither cyclists or drivers actually care about each other's needs any more.
And neither party truly care's about a horse rider's needs....
And nobody at all cares about the farmer's needs....
A symptom of the malaise that plagues our society these past decades.
Instead of venting one's spleen on this thread, why not...as individuals, attempt to break the cycle of viciousness that has developed, and simply comply with the Highway Code?
Instead of trying to use the Public Highway as a battleground?
I don't see it that way at all, while there's been some extreme views posted in this thread I don't find it's like that in reality at all. I find most drivers are pretty considerate, when overtaking they wait until there's enough room to swing wide and give me some space, they don't sit right on my back wheel and when I'm coming up to junctions they wait to see which way I'm going rather than barge past then stop right in front of me. In turn I make sure I follow the rules of the road, use hand signals clearly and don't make unpredictable maneuvers. When I'm in the car I treat other cyclists as I would expect to be treated myself, as I drive and cycle I know what's annoying to the other and avoid it.
While some of the anti-cyclist/anti-car arguments can be irritating, they don't bother me when out on the road where my bigger concern particularly on the bike is simply people not paying attention to where they're going.
