Cyclists not using hand signals

I think the biggest problem with cycling is the lack of convictions against drivers if a cyclist/s is killed/seriously injured. There's been many cases where cyclists have been wiped out by drivers driving through them at speed with just a "sorry didn't see them" "sun in my eyes" "looking/listening at satnav" etc and getting away with it. The incident in wales a few years ago with several riders killed such one case.
Once you ride on the road for a while you get to feel how vulnerable you are with no protection around you.
Not trying to put people off cycling as its a great way to exercise get about etc, just wish more was done to educate drivers get people thinking about how vulnerable you can be on a bike.0 -

I have a vested interest here having had a cycling accident 5 years ago which amongst other things resulted in 32 stiches to my head, a double fracture of the skull, fractured neck vertibrae and a further fracture to the back. 4 months in a body brace ain't funny.
I just wish more was done to educate riders as well, when I see anyone without a cycling helmet nowadays I cringe, I didn't before.
Almost missed my own point;
Nothing else was involved in "my" accident, simply too fast round a downhill bend and over the handlebars:eek::eek::eek:I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -

Is it possible that sentencing guidelines are different/more strict in Scotland?0 -

The trouble is that the safety implications of wearing a helmet is not that cut and dried. I wear mine on long rides, but mostly because "I've bought it so I may as well wear it"

Was you wearing a helmet when you crashed, and was it on road?
Hope you are better now.0
