Was you wearing a helmet when you crashed, and was it on road?
    Hope you are better now.

Nope I wasn't kitted out with a helmet, hence the advice, might have saved the skull and facial issues but methinks the other fractures would still have happened.

Yes I was on the road but when I came round I was wearing my bike as a shirt on the pavement:rotfl:, and yes I can laugh now, you have to.

Got me early retirement so I supose there was some benefit;););):T
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

I was waiting for the next car to be even closer... first one happens a lot. lol
If the driver was questioned at the lights he/she would probably just give out abuse or just think cyclists shouldn't be on the road. (or just not realise)
I rode about 60 miles yesterday, lucky no incidents, a bit close with a car over taking a line of traffic at speed on a main road but that's it, so happy with that really.

Can you imagine if everybody stopped using cars and started cycling - would that be a good idea? How much do cyclists contribute to the economy and how much to car drivers contribute? If car drivers stopped using cars and stopped paying for petrol, vehicle excise duty etc the Government would have to claw back the missing money from somewhere! There is no way they give a stuff about the environment or people's health, they care about how much money they can take off us.

    how much do they cost?

    the economic contribution is easily calculated;

    money in from cars
    minus
money out to cover costs of cars
    equals economic contribution

Thanks for the info, haven't really got time to sit and read the report at the moment, its hard to read due to the size and colour of text, but I'll try later.

I'm not sure why you call motorists stupid and selfish for driving, they are paying for the privilege, have a licence and are entitled to drive on the roads. Insulting other road users does nothing for the debate, I agree fully with cycling (my husband cycles to work everyday) which has saved us money and helped his fitness levels, we aren't contributing as much to the economy now as we only have 1 car and don't use as much petrol. My husband cycling to work doesn't benefit the economy at all, he doesn't go shopping or spend money, just cycles to work and back.

you had it correct to start with, then you got it wrong

there is no right or entitlement to drive a motor vehicle on the public roads

you are granted a privilage by the state, on the basis that you follow whatever rules they wish to set down

entitlement to drive a motor vehicle on the public roads

At least, no more so than to ride a bicycle on the public highway.....or walk....of ride a horse...or herd a flock of sheep....?

The problem is.....neither cyclists or drivers actually care about each other's needs any more.

And neither party truly care's about a horse rider's needs....

And nobody at all cares about the farmer's needs....

A symptom of the malaise that plagues our society these past decades.

Instead of venting one's spleen on this thread, why not...as individuals, attempt to break the cycle of viciousness that has developed, and simply comply with the Highway Code?

Instead of trying to use the Public Highway as a battleground?
No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......

Actually, you're completely wrong there old chap. Horse riders are often healthy young ladies with very strong thighs and I care deeply about that sort of thing ;)

I'm always very careful around horses - this is a traditional pusrsuit that should be encouraged.
