'Credit broker', you little rascal, are you a competitor of Yes Loans? Come on now, it's nearly Easter, that's not what Jesus would have wanted, is it.
We take the lesson for today from John 18, verse 40 which, in the New MSE translation, doth read: "Now Barrabbas didst work as a loan broker"
  • Hi all,

I have been doing my research on this subject for some time now, having been scammed by yes loans myself - however nobody else seems to have been bitten in quite the same way.
Like most, I paid my £50 admin fee a couple of years ago, alas no loan. I have recently gotten my money back, but I need to know if anybody else has had the same particular problem as me......

A tuesday evening last summer, around 1730, my house phone rings. I answer it and there is the usual pause when called from another country. Christ, another sales call i thought. A man with a very heavy Indian accent said my name. "no" i said, "you have the wrong number". He said "I have the wrong number?" and i replied "yes" in a sarcastic tone.

Now the abuse starts. The Indian man replied "why are you f
    lying to me?"
I was gob smacked and just said "you what?"
He replied "you heard me you black !!!! b
    "
I told him that he was nothing more than a phone warrior and if i got hold of him i would do some damage. He continued to tell me that -
"you stole £30,000 from my credit card and if i dont get it back i will kill you and your family, ill rape your wife you f
    black !!!!".

I didnt respond in the best way to be honest - i actually told him to show up with a few of his friends as i would not be threatened like this on my own home phone. Plus i dont know where he got this "black !!!!" thing from seeing as im white with a birmingham accent....

Anyways, after more shouting and abuse, he told me my home address and told me he would be round. I must admit, now i was nervous. I hung the phone up. I left it a couple of minutes and picked it back up to call the police. He was still on the line, and i could hear him speaking in Urdu to another man and they were laughing. Within five minutes, I had a call on my mobile phone this time from a very polite Indian man promising not to take up too much of my valuable time. Guess what? They were offering me a loan.

Alarm bells were now ringing - how had these people got my name, address, phone number and fathers name? I was panicking. Maybe it was a mistake, they had the wrong end of the stick? I have never stolen anything in my life, and if i had stole 30k im sure id have remembered! Thats when the light bulb struck. I had applied with yes loans - and god only knows who they had passed my details to.

Now i knew nobody was coming to attack me my home or my family I got on the phone to yes loans. I asked them what they meant by passing my details on to people who meant to scare me and threaten me. Then when i was intimidated they call and offer me a loan!! All yes loans did was tell me they knew nothing of the sort and hung up on me - 4 times!

I need to know if this has happened to anybody else? please reply as this is going to bring yes loans down.

This incident was horrible and caused me to have a few sleepless nights. Every noise i heard i was on alert. It was an awful experience and I want people to know that Yes loans do alot worse than just con you out of an admin fee.

Thanks for reading this and I hope it does not happen to anybody else.

The call you receied is well documented on here.

It was an Indian Call scam where they offer you a loan but insist on money up front (the first months "payment") via Western Union.

The abuse is not so well known but as they are calling from India, there is a negligeable chance of any repurcusions. It will be worth reporting it though both to the Police and your phone provider.
There is nothing they can do about it though, nobody is going to pop over to India to find the perpetrator.

I don't think anyone can confirm it was definitely Yes Loans who supplied the details but of course, they are a scam company and are simply out to obtain as much money as possible. I am in no doubt they would sell your details on but proving it is another thing entirely.

I'm sure you've already learnt the lesson about dishing out your details at a whim but hopefully your story can help others not to make the same mistake.

Ignore the threats and move on.
  • I have had a nightmare with yes the day before yesterday i applied and was accepted for what i requested and i confirmed that it was for the loan that i was paying a fee anyway i wouldnt pay the fee then 69 pounds but set it for a future date. anyway as i suspected when the paper work came yesterday it was purely and application for them to act as a broker not for the loan its self anyway i went to the internet to try and contact them via email and found this forum and all the horror stories.

I spent the day today trying to phone them never got through on the customer services line so i rang the sales line in the end which they answered straight away but wouldnt help in fact were just rude then i found the reception number FANTASTIC i rang and they put me straight in the que again so i hung up and rang again she then put me through to the que again so again i rang up and explained i would not go away in the end she transfered me internally to a man who in all fairness just sounded like he had lost the will to live he argued alittle at first saying he couldnt stop it i argued that he could then miraculously he could i logged the name and time i rang and his only passing comment was PLEASE DONT PUT MY NAME ON THE INTERNET LOL any way here is the number for reception call it and save time just keep ringing them on it only took three calls and ten minutes instead of all day and countless calls 01633712712

    Advice needed.
After reading the reviews about Yes Loans, I was shocked. Yes loans are waiting for my admin fee of £79, like many others I came across Yes Loans via a search, got all the sales patter. Anyway can someone help.
They have my bank details, can they take out the money?
They have credited my account with £100 which I repay £120 in a month to improve my credit score.
After reading the shock stories I dont know if Im responsible for the admin fee. They havent got back to me regarding the loan I asked for but I dont need it now.
    Can someone help?
No, your loan was way too small to require an admin fee.
Don't listen to the stupid reviews people write online, they're just people who either didn't get a loan and weren't happy or didn't actually take the correct measures to get their fee back.
  • Yes Loans tell you they are a credit broker in the beginning of the call. If you're not listening enough to hear that, then it's your fault for not listening.
You're not buying shoes, you're trying to go through a very important application. Yes are upfront about what they do and who they are.
When it comes to the fee, permission is asked in order to take it. If someone was to say no the fee wouldn't be taken. If you say yes or ok when it is mentioned, then you're agreeing to pay that fee. Again, if you weren't listening enough and just said ok out of instinct, then it's your fault for not listening.

I mean, come on, who goes through a phone app and doesn't pay attention to something so important? It's a serious thing, so pay attention.

And the fee is fully refundable if you write in within 14 days, after that it is minus £5 for admin costs. The people who complain about not getting their fee back are people who don't actually write in for it.

Glad your willing to fight their corner, Mick.

What about them passing details on to INDIAN scam artists who threaten and know my home address? Stop being a do-gooder and live in the real world - THESE PEOPLE ARE OUT TO CON PEOPLE OUT OF MONEY.

If you have an explanation in the defense of YES LOANS for the threats i have recieved due to them passing my details on - do let me know. You either work for these people or are seriously wet behind the ears.
